Data acquisition and supervision systems for the HL-LHC quench protection system - part I the hardware / Podzorny, Tomasz (CERN) ; Hollos, Adam (CERN) ; Skoczen, Andrzej (AGH-UST, Cracow) ; Garcia, G M (CERN) ; Spasic, Jelena (CERN) ; Steckert, Jens (CERN) ; Christensen, M B B (CERN) ; Galilée, Marc-Antoine (CERN) ; Moya, M M (CERN) ; Denz, Reiner (CERN) et al.
Protection of the superconducting circuits of the High Luminosity Upgrade of the LHC project (HL-LHC) will be ensured by a new generation of quench detection systems and various quench protection systems for the superconducting circuits and magnets. The HL-LHC quench detection systems serve as well as high-performance data acquisition systems, that also provide essential input for the automatic analysis of events such as a superconducting magnet quench. The supervision of the quench protection systems required the development of data acquisition and monitoring systems adapted to the specific characteristics of this equipment. Of particular importance are the protection device supervision units (PDSU), which are monitoring and interlocking the quench heater circuits and the Coupling Loss Induced Quench (CLIQ) systems. All data acquisition and monitoring systems use Ethernet-based communication with precise timing instead of a classic serial fieldbus solution. Front-end hybrid designs for the CMS Phase-2 upgrade towards the production phase / Kovacs, Mark Istvan (CERN) ; Blanchot, Georges (CERN) ; Gadek, Tomasz (Zurich, ETH) ; Hollos, Adam Erik (CERN) ; Mateos Dominguez, Irene (CERN) ; Zografos, Angelos (Natl. Tech. U., Athens) /CMS Collaboration
Sixteen thousand 2S front-end hybrids and twelve thousand PS front-end hybrids will be produced for the CMS Tracker Phase-2 upgrade. The hybrids consist of flip-chips, passives and mechanical components mounted on a flexible substrate, laminated onto carbon-fibre stiffeners with thermal expansion compensators. [...]

Hybrids Acceptance Tools for the CMS Phase-2 Tracker Upgrade / Blanchot, Georges (CERN) ; Hollos, Adam Erik (CERN) ; Kovacs, Mark Istvan (CERN) ; Loutit, Magnus John (Bristol U.) ; Makarenko, Inna (Brussels U.) ; Mateos Dominguez, Irene (CERN) ; Otarid, Younes (DESY) ; Seif El Nasr, Sarah (Bristol U.) ; Zografos, Angelos (Natl. Tech. U., Athens)
Up to fifty thousand front-end and service hybrids are required for the CMS Tracker Phase-2 Upgrade. These hybrids are built on carbon fibre stiffened circuits and contain several flip-chip ASICs, that will be glued in module structures, making repairs almost impossible. [...]

Power, Readout and Service Hybrids for the CMS Phase-2 Upgrade / Zografos, Angelos (Natl. Tech. U., Athens) ; Blanchot, Georges (CERN) ; Mateos Dominguez, Irene (CERN) ; Hollos, Adam Erik (CERN) ; Kovacs, Mark Istvan (CERN) ; Rasevic, Nikola (VINCA Inst. Nucl. Sci., Belgrade)
The CMS tracker Phase-2 upgrade silicon modules integrate DC-DC powering stages and an optical transceiver to power and control the front-end hybrids. The strip-strip (2S) module contains a Service Hybrid (2S-SEH) with two-stage DC-DC power conversion, an lpGBT with optical interface (VTRx+), high voltage biasing and temperature sensor ports. [...]

Strategies and performance of the CMS silicon tracker alignment during LHC Run 2 / CMS Collaboration
The strategies for and the performance of the CMS silicon tracking system alignment during the 2015-2018 data-taking period of the LHC are described. The alignment procedures during and after data taking are explained. [...]
