The Gbar project, or how does antimatter fall? / Indelicato, Paul (Paris, Lab. Kastler Brossel) ; Chardin, G (CSNSM, Orsay) ; Grandemange, P (CSNSM, Orsay) ; Lunney, D (CSNSM, Orsay) ; Manea, V (CSNSM, Orsay) ; Badertscher, A (Zurich, ETH) ; Crivelli, P (Zurich, ETH) ; Curioni, A (Zurich, ETH) ; Marchionni, A (Zurich, ETH) ; Rossi, B (Zurich, ETH) et al.
The Einstein classical Weak Equivalence Principle states that the trajectory of a particle is independent of its composition and internal structure when it is only submitted to gravitational forces. This fundamental principle has never been directly tested with antimatter. [...]

A distributed and interconnected network of sensors for environmental radiological monitoring / Gallego Manzano, L (CERN) ; Bisegni, C (Frascati) ; Boukabache, H (CERN) ; Curioni, A (CERN) ; Heracleous, N (CERN) ; Murtas, F (Frascati) ; Perrin, D (CERN) ; Silari, M (CERN)
The W-MON project aims to improve and automatize the control of the presence of radioactive material in conventional waste containers at CERN using a distributed network of interconnected low-power radiation sensors. The key development is the integration of a lightweight but sensitive radiation sensor in a powerful network that allows continuous data recording, transfer and storage in a database for alarm triggering and subsequent data analysis. RaDoM2: an improved radon dosimeter / Romano, S (CERN ; Barcelona, Polytechnic U.) ; Caresana, M (Milan, Polytech.) ; Curioni, A (CERN) ; Silari, M (CERN)
A new dosimeter for radon progeny called RaDoM (Radon Dose Monitor) was recently developed at CERN . RaDoM is an active detector able to directly estimate the effective dose due to the radon progeny. [...]

W-MON: a wireless network of ionizing sensors for radiation monitoring in waste / Manzano, L Gallego (CERN) ; Bisegni, C (Frascati) ; Boukabache, H (CERN) ; Curioni, A (CERN ; Inst. Appl. Radiophys., Lausanne) ; Galea, C (U. Malta) ; Heracleous, N (CERN) ; Murtas, F (CERN ; Frascati) ; Perrin, D (CERN) ; Silari, M (CERN)
With the aim of controlling the risk of releasing radioactive material together with ordinary waste, the Radiation Protection (RP) group at CERN is developing a fully automated network of wireless radiation sensors to provide remote and real- time monitoring of the radiation level of hundreds of waste containers located on the CERN sites. The system, based on the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm, will be included in the existing CERN RP supervisory system, allowing online monitoring and continuous supervision. [...]

B-RAD: a radiation survey meter for operation in intense magnetic fields / Celeste, D (CERN) ; Curioni, A (CERN) ; Fazzi, A (Milan, Polytech.) ; Silari, M (CERN) ; Varoli, V (Milan, Polytech.)
B-RAD is a hand-held radiation survey meter, specifically designed for operation in regions of strong magnetic field. The instrument has been jointly developed by CERN Radiation Protection group and the Department of Energy of the Polytechnic of Milan (POLIMI), originally to perform measurements of the residual radioactivity (radiation surveys) in the experimental areas of CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and inside the ATLAS detector without switching the magnetic field off. Single- and multi-foils $^{27}$ Al(p,3pn) $^{24}$ Na activation technique for monitoring the intensity of high-energy beams / Curioni, A (CERN ; Milan Polytechnic) ; Froeschl, R (CERN) ; Glaser, M (CERN) ; Iliopoulou, E (CERN ; Aristotle U., Thessaloniki) ; La Torre, F P (CERN) ; Pozzi, F (CERN) ; Ravotti, F (CERN) ; Silari, M (CERN)
This paper discusses an experimental study of the spallation reaction $^{27}$ Al(p,3pn) $^{24}$Na in Al foils exposed to 24 $GeV c^{−1}$ protons, in the context of monitoring the intensity of multi-GeV proton beams through foil activation techniques. Since this reaction is sensitive to secondary neutrons and other energetic secondary hadrons, it is important to evaluate the impact of the foil thickness on the calculation of the beam intensity.
