The Soft Supersymmetry-Breaking Lagrangian: Theory and Applications / Chung, D.J.H. (CERN ; Wisconsin U., Madison) ; Everett, L.L. (Florida U. ; CERN) ; Kane, G.L. (Michigan U., MCTP) ; King, S.F. (Southampton U.) ; Lykken, Joseph D. (Fermilab) ; Wang, Lian-Tao (Wisconsin U., Madison)
After an introduction recalling the theoretical motivation for low energy (100 GeV to TeV scale) supersymmetry, this review describes the theory and experimental implications of the soft supersymmetry-breaking Lagrangian of the general minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). Extensions to include neutrino masses and nonminimal theories are also discussed. [...]

Running of the Scalar Spectral Index from Inflationary Models / Chung, Daniel J.H. (CERN ; Wisconsin U., Madison) ; Shiu, Gary (Wisconsin U., Madison) ; Trodden, Mark (Syracuse U.)
The scalar spectral index n is an important parameter describing the nature of primordial density perturbations. Recent data, including that from the WMAP satellite, shows some evidence that the index runs (changes as a function of the scale k at which it is measured) from n>1 (blue) on long scales to n<1 (red) on short scales. Minimal Theoretical Uncertainties in Inflationary Predictions / Chung, Daniel J.H. (CERN ; Wisconsin U., Madison) ; Notari, Alessio (Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore) ; Riotto, Antonio (INFN, Padua)
During inflation, primordial energy density fluctuations are created from approximate de Sitter vacuum quantum fluctuations redshifted out of the horizon after which they are frozen as perturbations in the background curvature. In this paper we demonstrate that there exists an intrinsic theoretical uncertainty in the inflationary predictions for the curvature perturbations due to the failure of the well known prescriptions to specify the vacuum uniquely. Quintessence and the Underlying Particle Physics Theory / Chung, D.J.H. (CERN) ; Everett, L.L. (CERN) ; Riotto, A. (INFN, Padua)
At present we know nothing about the nature of the dark energy accounting for about 70% of the energy density of the Universe. One possibility is that the dark energy is provided by an extremely light field, the quintessence, rolling down its potential. [...]

Lensed Density Perturbations in Braneworlds : An Alternative to Perturbations from Inflation / Chung, Daniel J.H. (Michigan U. ; CERN) ; Freese, Katherine (Michigan U. ; ISCAP, New York)
We consider a scenario in which our observable universe is a 3-dimensional surface (3-brane) living in extra dimensions with a warped geometry. We show that ``lensed'' density perturbations from other branes serve as possible seeds for structure formation on our observable brane (without inflation), and, in addition, provide constraints on braneworld scenarios with warped bulk geometry. Standard Model Baryogenesis through Four-fermion Operators in Braneworlds / Chung, Daniel J.H. (CERN) ; Dent, Thomas (Michigan U.)
We study a new baryogenesis scenario in a class of braneworld models with low fundamental scale, which typically have difficulty with baryogenesis. The scenario is characterized by its minimal nature: the field content is that of the Standard Model and all interactions consistent with the gauge symmetry are admitted. [...]

Probing Planckian physics : resonant production of particles during inflation and features in the primordial power spectrum / Chung, Daniel J.H. (Michigan U.) ; Kolb, Edward W. (Fermilab ; Chicago U., Astron. Astrophys. Ctr. ; Chicago U., EFI) ; Riotto, Antonio (CERN) ; Tkachev, Igor I. (CERN ; Moscow, INR)
The phenomenon of resonant production of particles {\it after} inflation has received much attention in the past few years. In a new application of resonant production of particles, we consider the effect of a resonance {\em during} inflation. [...]

WIMPZILLAS! / Kolb, Edward W. (Fermilab ; Chicago U., Astron. Astrophys. Ctr. ; Chicago U., EFI) ; Chung, Daniel J.H. (Michigan U.) ; Riotto, Antonio (CERN)
There are many reasons to believe the present mass density of the universe is dominated by a weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP), a fossil relic of the early universe. Theoretical ideas and experimental efforts have focused mostly on production and detection of thermal relics, with mass typically in the range a few GeV to a hundred GeV [...]
