Construction and test of the SM1 type Micromegas chambers for the upgrade of the ATLAS forward muon spectrometer / Agarwala, J (Pavia U.) ; Alviggi, M G (Naples U. ; INFN, Naples) ; Antonelli, M (Frascati) ; Anulli, F (INFN, Rome ; Rome U.) ; Arcangeletti, C (Frascati) ; Auricchio, S (Naples U. ; INFN, Naples) ; Bagnaia, P (INFN, Rome ; Rome U.) ; Bariani, S (Pavia U.) ; Baroncelli, A (Rome III U. ; INFN, Rome3) ; Bashta, I (Rome III U. ; INFN, Rome3) et al.
Large-size Resistive Micromegas have been chosen for the upgrade of the forward muon spectrometer of the ATLAS experiment, the New Small Wheel project. These chambers, together with small-strip Thin Gap Chambers (sTGC), allow reconstruction of high-momentum muon tracks in a high-radiation environment and provide a robust low-threshold single-muon trigger. The $\pi^+ \pi^ -\pi^0$, $K^+ K^- \pi^0$ and $K^\pm K^0 \pi^\mp$ final states produced by $\bar p p$ annihilation at rest at three different hydrogen target densities have been analyzed in the frame of a coupled channel analysis together with $\pi \pi$, $\pi K$ and $K \bar K$ scattering data. The percentages of the different partial waves, the branching ratios and the parameters (masses, widths, $\pi \pi$ and $K \bar K$ partial widths) of all the involved resonances ($J^P = 0^+, 1^-, 2^+$) have been measured. Pion contamination in the MICE muon beam / MICE Collaboration
The international Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment (MICE) will perform a systematic investigation of ionization cooling with muon beams of momentum between 140 and 240\,MeV/c at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory ISIS facility. The measurement of ionization cooling in MICE relies on the selection of a pure sample of muons that traverse the experiment. [...]

Electron-Muon Ranger: performance in the MICE Muon Beam / MICE collaboration
The Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment (MICE) will perform a detailed study of ionization cooling to evaluate the feasibility of the technique. To carry out this program, MICE requires an efficient particle-identification (PID) system to identify muons. [...]

Characterisation of the Muon Beams for the Muon Ionisation Cooling Experiment / Mice collaboration
A novel single-particle technique to measure emittance has been developed and used to characterise seventeen different muon beams for the Muon Ionisation Cooling Experiment (MICE). The muon beams, whose mean momenta vary from 171 to 281 MeV/c, have emittances of approximately 1.5--2.3 \pi mm-rad horizontally and 0.6--1.0 \pi mm-rad vertically, a horizontal dispersion of 90--190 mm and momentum spreads of about 25 MeV/c. The MICE Muon Beam on ISIS and the beam-line instrumentation of the Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment / MICE Collaboration
The international Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment (MICE), which is under construction at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), will demonstrate the principle of ionization cooling as a technique for the reduction of the phase-space volume occupied by a muon beam. Ionization cooling channels are required for the Neutrino Factory and the Muon Collider. [...]

Dynamical selection rules from $\overline{p}p$ annihilation at rest in three meson final states / OBELIX Collaboration
The hadronic annihilation branching-ratios in quasi-two-body final states have been obtained from the observation of the reactions pp to pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/ pi /sup 0/, K/sup +/K/sup -/ pi /sup 0/, K/sup +or-/ pi -or+K/sup 0/ at rest in hydrogen targets at different densities. The enhancement or suppression of specific hadronic channels connected to dynamical selection rules is observed in the production of different resonances both in protonium S and P-waves, systematically investigated for the first time. $\overline{p}p$ annihilation into four charged pions at rest and in flight / OBELIX Collaboration
The spin-parity analysis of the data on the pp to 2 pi /sup +/ 2 pi /sup $/annihilation reaction at rest in liquid and in gaseous hydrogen at 3 bar pressure and in flight at p momentum of approximately= 50 MeV/c, collected by the Obelix spectrometer at the LEAR complex of CERN, is presented. The relative branching ratios (a /sub 1/ (1260) to sigma pi )/(a/sub 1/(1260) to rho pi ) = 0.06 +or- 0.05 and ( pi (1300) to sigma pi )/( pi (1300) to rho pi ) = 2.2 +or- 0.4 are obtained. [...]
