XDAQ is a generic data acquisition software environment that emerged from a rich set of of use-cases encountered in the CMS experiment. They cover not the deployment for multiple sub-detectors and the operation of different processing and networking equipment as well as a distributed collaboration of users with different needs. [...]

XDAQ is a generic data acquisition software environment that emerged from a rich set of use-cases encountered in the CMS experiment. These cover not only the deployment of data acquisition software for multiple sub-detectors and the operation of different processing and networking equipment, but also a highly distributed collaboration of users with different needs. A Simulation of an Event Building Network for the CMS High Energy Physics Experiment
/ Aziz, S (Fermilab) ; Berti, l (INFN, Legnaro) ; Brigljevic, V (CERN) ; Bruno, G (CERN) ; Cano, E (CERN) ; Csilling, A (CERN) ; Cittolin, S (CERN) ; Erhan, S (UCLA) ; Gigi, D (CERN) ; Glege, F (CERN) et al.
A simulation of the event building network of the Data Acquisition System of the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN has been developed. The simulation of this highly complex system allows the validation of the system design and the optimization of its performance. [...]

The data acquisition system for the CMS experiment at the LHC
/ Antchev, G ; Berti, L ; Cano, E ; Cittolin, Sergio ; Erhan, S ; Gigi, D ; Gutleber, J ; Jacobs, C ; Maron, G ; Meijers, F et al.
The trigger and data acquisition systems will play a key role in experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) currently under construction at CERN. At the LHC, with a beam-crossing frequency of 40 MHz, and a design luminosity of 10/sup 34/ cm/sup -2/ s/sup -1/, an average of 20 inelastic pp events will be produced per crossing. [...]

The data acquisition system of the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider will employ an event builder which will combine data from about 500 data sources into full events at an aggregate throughput of 100 GByte/s. Several architectures and switch technologies have been evaluated for the DAQ Technical Design Report by measurements with test benches and by simulation. [...]
