Upgrade of the Control System for the LHC High Level RF
/ Brischetto, Ylenia (CERN) ; Arnaudon, Luca (CERN) ; Costa, Valter (CERN) ; Glenat, David (CERN) ; Landré, David (CERN)
The acceleration of particles in CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is carried out by sixteen superconducting radiofrequency (RF) cavities. Their remote control is taken care of by a complex system which involves heterogeneous equipment and interfaces with a number of different subsystems, such as high voltage power converters, cryogenics, vacuum and access control interlocks. First demonstration of the use of crab cavities on hadron beams
/ Calaga, R (CERN) ; Alekou, A (Manchester U.) ; Antoniou, F (CERN) ; Appleby, R B (Manchester U.) ; Arnaudon, L (CERN) ; Artoos, K (CERN) ; Arduini, G (CERN) ; Baglin, V (CERN) ; Barriere, S (CERN) ; Bartosik, H (CERN) et al.
Many future particle colliders require beam crabbing to recover geometric luminosity loss from the nonzero crossing angle at the interaction point (IP). A first demonstration experiment of crabbing with hadron beams was successfully carried out with high energy protons. [...]

Operation Experience with the LHC ACS RF System
/ Turaj, Katarzyna (CERN) ; Arnaudon, Luca (CERN) ; Baudrenghien, Philippe (CERN) ; Brunner, Olivier (CERN) ; Butterworth, Andrew (CERN) ; Gerigk, Frank (CERN) ; Karppinen, Mikko (CERN) ; Maesen, Pierre (CERN) ; Montesinos, Eric (CERN) ; Peauger, Franck (CERN) et al.
The LHC accelerating RF system consists of two cryomodules per beam, each containing four single-cell niobium sputtered 400.8 MHz superconducting cavities working at 4.5 K and an average accelerating voltage of 2 MV. The paper summarises the experience, availability and evolution of the system within 10 years of operation. [...]

Status of the HL-LHC Crab Cavity Tuner
/ Artoos, Kurt (CERN) ; Arnaudon, Luca (CERN) ; Calaga, Rama (CERN) ; Cano-Pleite, Eduardo (CERN) ; Capatina, Ofelia (CERN) ; Capelli, Teddy (CERN) ; Cartaxo dos Santos, Duarte (CERN) ; Garlasché, Marco (CERN) ; Glenat, David (CERN) ; Krawczyk, Artur (Cracow, INP ; CERN) et al.
The resonance frequency of the HL-LHC Double Quarter Wave (DQW) and Radio Frequency Dipole (RFD) crab cavities is set to the operating frequency of 400.79 MHz by deforming the cavities. For both types of cavities, the tuning principle foresees a symmetric mechanical deformation of parts of the cavities in vertical direction, with the tuner motor placed outside on top of the vacuum vessel. First Operation for Stochastic Cooling of P-Bars in the CERN AD Using Optical Delay Notch Filter and Plans 2021 Operation

As part of the consolidation of the stochastic coolingsystem of the CERN Antiproton Decelerator a notch filter with optical delay lines has been developed. During the 2018 run of AD a notch filter with optical delay lines for the longitudinal stochastic cooling at 3.5 GeV/c was successfully tested with beam for the first time. [...]

Status and commissioning plans for LHC Run 2. The RF system.

The paper presents the work done on the LHC RF system during Long Shutdown 1
(LS1). On the High Level side we have replaced a cryomodule (four cavities, beam
2), which could not operate reliably at the design voltage (2 MV per cavity).
The upgrade of klystron collectors has been completed and new crowbar systems
have been installed (solid state thyristors replacing the old thyratrons). [...]
