Cherenkov Diffraction Radiation as a tool for beam diagnostics / Lefèvre, Thibaut (CERN) ; Alves, Diogo (CERN) ; Apollonio, Marco (Diamond Light Source) ; Aryshev, Alexander (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Bergamaschi, Michele (CERN) ; Billing, Michael (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Bleko, Vitol'd (Tomsk Polytechnic U.) ; Bobb, Lorraine (Diamond Light Source) ; Bordlemay Padilla, Yadira (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Conway, Joseph (Cornell U., CLASSE) et al.
During the last three years, the emission of Cherenkov Diffraction Radiation (ChDR), appearing when a relativistic charged particle moves in the vicinity of a dielectric medium, has been investigated with the aim of providing non-invasive beam diagnostics. ChDR has very interesting properties, with a large number of photons emitted in a narrow and well-defined solid angle, providing excellent conditions for detection with very little background. [...]

First Measurements of Cherenkov-Diffraction Radiation at Diamond Light Source / Harryman, Daniel (JAI, UK) ; Apollonio, Marco (Diamond Light Source) ; Bergamaschi, Michele (CERN) ; Bobb, Lorraine (Diamond Light Source) ; Karataev, Pavel (JAI, UK) ; Kieffer, Robert (CERN) ; Krupa, Michal (CERN) ; Lefèvre, Thibaut (CERN) ; Mazzoni, Stefano (CERN) ; Potylitsyn, Alexander (Tomsk Polytechnic U.)
Cherenkov Diffraction Radiation (ChDR), appearing when a charged particle moves in the vicinity of a dielectric medium with speed faster than the speed of light inside the medium, is a phenomenon that can be exploited for a range of non-invasive beam diagnostics. By using dielectric radiators that emit photons when in proximity to charged particle beams, one can design devices to measure beam properties such as position, direction and size. [...]

Neutrino Factory / Bogomilov, M (Sofiya U.) ; Matev, R (Sofiya U.) ; Tsenov, R (Sofiya U.) ; Dracos, M (Strasbourg, IPHC) ; Bonesini, M (INFN, Milan Bicocca) ; Palladino, V (INFN, Naples ; Naples U.) ; Tortora, L (INFN, Rome) ; Mori, Y (Kyoto U., KURRI) ; Planche, T (Kyoto U., KURRI) ; Lagrange, J  B (Kyoto U., KURRI) et al.
The properties of the neutrino provide a unique window on physics beyond that described by the standard model. The study of subleading effects in neutrino oscillations, and the race to discover CP-invariance violation in the lepton sector, has begun with the recent discovery that $\theta_{13} > 0$. [...]

Pion contamination in the MICE muon beam / MICE Collaboration
The international Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment (MICE) will perform a systematic investigation of ionization cooling with muon beams of momentum between 140 and 240\,MeV/c at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory ISIS facility. The measurement of ionization cooling in MICE relies on the selection of a pure sample of muons that traverse the experiment. [...]

Electron-Muon Ranger: performance in the MICE Muon Beam / MICE collaboration
The Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment (MICE) will perform a detailed study of ionization cooling to evaluate the feasibility of the technique. To carry out this program, MICE requires an efficient particle-identification (PID) system to identify muons. [...]

Characterisation of the Muon Beams for the Muon Ionisation Cooling Experiment / Mice collaboration
A novel single-particle technique to measure emittance has been developed and used to characterise seventeen different muon beams for the Muon Ionisation Cooling Experiment (MICE). The muon beams, whose mean momenta vary from 171 to 281 MeV/c, have emittances of approximately 1.5--2.3 \pi mm-rad horizontally and 0.6--1.0 \pi mm-rad vertically, a horizontal dispersion of 90--190 mm and momentum spreads of about 25 MeV/c. High intensity neutrino oscillation facilities in Europe / Edgecock, T.R. (Rutherford) ; Caretta, O. (Rutherford) ; Davenne, T. (Rutherford) ; Densham, C. (Rutherford) ; Fitton, M. (Rutherford) ; Kelliher, D. (Rutherford) ; Loveridge, P. (Rutherford) ; Machida, S. (Rutherford) ; Prior, C. (Rutherford) ; Rogers, C. (Rutherford) et al.
The EUROnu project has studied three possible options for future, high intensity neutrino oscillation facilities in Europe. The first is a Super Beam, in which the neutrinos come from the decay of pions created by bombarding targets with a 4 MW proton beam from the CERN High Power Superconducting Proton Linac. [...]

Electroweak Measurements in Electron-Positron Collisions at W-Boson-Pair Energies at LEP / ALEPH Collaboration
Electroweak measurements performed with data taken at the electron-positron collider LEP at CERN from 1995 to 2000 are reported. The combined data set considered in this report corresponds to a total luminosity of about 3~fb$^{-1}$ collected by the four LEP experiments ALEPH, DELPHI, L3 and OPAL, at centre-of-mass energies ranging from $130~GeV$ to $209~GeV$ [...]

The new photon detection system for COMPASS RICH-1 has been designed to cope with the demanding requests of operation at high beam intensity and at high trigger rates. The detection technique in the central region of RICH-1 has been changed with a system based on multianode photomultipliers coupled to individual fused silica lens telescopes and to a fast, almost dead time free readout system based on the MAD-4 amplifier-discriminator and the F1 TDC-chip.
