Have you been to the Pearl District lately? Every time I walk down the street, there is more construction and another new building being finished. It is craziness out there! But with that comes some great new restaurants to check out. Attached to the new Hampton Inn Suites on NW 9th and Everett is an excellent addition to the neighborhood with Tanner Creek Tavern. Boozy Whiskey Butter Cake {Recipe}

Ok seriously Portland, you’ve got to lay off this heat. This is getting absurd. How are you all staying cool? For me, we are lucky to have AC but I also have been eating an unnecessary amount of Halo Top ice cream and experimenting making frosé. Having a frozen blended, boozy beverage really makes up for the furnace-like weather.

Speaking of booze, I recently received a bottle of Bull Run Distilling‘s Single Malt Whiskey and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it – Whiskey Butter Cake. As the name implies, it is a boozy, buttery and fluffy cake. 2017 Summer Favorites

Happy summer, friends! What have you been up to? I’ve been enjoying the beauty of the NW. Especially after traveling most of last summer, I really wanted to stay in town to soak up all the gorgeous weather we get here for a short stint.

So my summer days have been spent camping and running a trail relay with some awesome ladies at Wild Woman Marathon, grilling nearly every day, eating my weight in berries on the reg, going wine tasting at some great places like Hawks View Cellars and AniChe, and celebrating the launch of Uncle Nearest whiskey.
