DBA Mamluks vs Crusaders

Mamluks advancing.
Back to basics now, DBA Battle between the Mamluks & Crusaders.  Amy took the Crusaders & yours truly the swish Mamluks.  History bit = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninth_Crusade

Amy took Knights, Spears & Bows.  The Mamluks are Cavalry heavy, extra wise I went for Light Horse, Psiloi & Hordes to guard the camp.

Da Battlefield
1st turn, Mamluk Psiloi race for the Oasis.

Strangly Amy put her Spears on the flanks...

Amy's Knights came on in the same old style....
Boo! 4 Crusaders onto 2 Mamluks
1st Kill MAMLUKS!!! RaHoo!
The Mamluk Light Horse strike.

AAarrgh! The Crusaders push back the Mamluk

Amy's Hospitallers strike back...

Busy Battlefield, units colour coded for ease of view
The Crusaders make it two kills.
Oh Yea!!!!
A mistake by Amy, the countdown to the end begins...

Amy redoubles her efforts & even sends out some Knights to the camp

2-2 Game On!
In go the Crusaders Spears!
RRRaaargh! Crusader Power!

Back come the Mamluks...
Attack the Camp!
Yes!
Medieval Total War 2 moment.....

It's been along time since we've played standard DBA, that was a fun game.  The Mamluks are one of my favourite armies, the Crusaders one of Amy's.  It was a poor set-up by Amy at the start, obviously out of practice.  Until the next time!  Now a word from the latest addition to our 'Hound Pack'....

General Pippin Von Krum's

After Action Analysis

"To crush your enemies -- See them driven before you, hear the lamentation of their women!"
"Always Guard your Camp, Don't put heavy Infantry on the Flanks!!"

DBA Teutons vs Germans

Amy's Teutons at the top, Ze Germans at the bottom.
Grudge match & a half now.  The Teutonic Grandmaster AMY has been giving me the verbals, 'I'm the best...blah blah blah', the gauntlet has been thrown down.  So Holy Roman Emperor MrF, has accepted.  The Teutons versus Ze Germans in a Medieval Monster Mash.  Knights galore, this one will be a tough scrap....

The Teuton Light Horse advance

A steady advance for both of us...

Knight vs Knight clash coming up...

Crash Bang Wallop....

Recoils all round...

Amy avoids the Bows & goes for the Spears

Amy launches the Teuton Light Horse across the field, a slight advantage..

It would be a tough scrap....

Back & forth for the Knight combats...

The German General pushes through the centre...

However it could prove to be a disadvantage.

The Teuton Cavalry dash around the flank...

AArrgghh... Amy pulls a sneaky one... Could she make it count?

In your face Teuton!!   The German General wins through..

CRUNCH!! In go ze German Pike & Blades....

The lines are all over...

Get In!!!  Disaster for the Teutons..... Strike two elements in one round.

Amy pulls one back....

...plus the Teuton Light Horse back just in case!

VICTORY!!!

Who's the Daddy???   Victory for the Germans!
I demand that the Teuton Grandmaster begs forgiveness... I get a die thrown at me for my troubles!!
Ahhh well, the youth of today!

DBA Battle of Bosworth

Following on from our visit to the Bosworth Battlefield Museum, Amy & I had the re-fight.  We used the Army Lists from the Fanaticus site http://www.fanaticus.org/DBA/battles/bosworth.html .  Which meant raiding every medieval army that we have to make up the numbers.  Amy took the side of Henry Tudor & the Stanleys, yours truly the forces of 'good king' Richard...lol.  The Stanleys would have to be activated, requiring a roll every turn until the desired outcome.

The battlefield set-up

The view from King Richard's position

General Amy, sporting the national costume of every British youth - 'the hoody'

The lines prepare to clash

Henry with his welsh lads...

Richard III and his mighty host of knights

They're off!

Richard spies a hole in the lines... he's off!

Err... Amy gets the required roll for activation of the Stanley's.

A grand sight

The Stanley forces are straight in.

The Stanley's had a host of Cavalry

First Blood to the Yorkist's

On the other flank, the battle commences..

Back on the other flank, the Yorkist Knights plough through the Lancastrian's
The English border horse hold off the Stanley Cavalry

Whoops... Blades & Spears carve up Yorkist Bows..

Ggggrrr... Now the Scots Pike are at it

Wayhay! That's better the Yorkist left flank is winning through.

It would be a mighty scrap with the Stanley's...

Yorkist Spear take down Welsh Archers

The Battle at this point, the Yorkist left is looking good, however the Stanleys pressure on the right.
Whilst in the centre King Richard spies a gap & makes his way to Henry Tudor...

Lovely, the lines are engaged everywhere...

Richard leaves behind some of his entourage... a mistake?

The Yorkist left flank is breaking through...

Scrap on... King Richard vs Henry Tudor

The Yorkist Spears carve up the enemy

Richard's on his own, as the Welsh Boyo's force back his Knights

Now Richard is forced back...

It would be a mighty scrap, more Yorkist troops join the King.

The Stanley troops start mopping up, now the Yorkist  right is under threat.

Now Henry Tudor is getting the advantage...

Whoops a daisy... The Yorkist right is broken, half the troops leg it, PiPs are needed to hold the rest in place.

Whilst on the Yorkist left, the Lancastrian's are broken, would it be a massacre?

Slowly the Lancastrian centre is pushed back, surely a Yorkist victory is near....?

Bah! The Lancastrian's hold on the left.

Thers's no stopping the Yorkist's!!!!

Battlefield Review... The Yorkists are winning, the black line is the starting point.

Boo! The Stanley Cavalry is winning through.

NOOOOOOOO!!!!   King Richard has fallen! Amy is over the moon!

History repeats itself, the House of Lancaster reigns supreme, it was a mega scrap indeed.  To be fair, the battle revolved around the fight between Richard & Henry, each side had a command broken.  I shake my head, all these troops to be put away..... ;o)
