W3C is 30!

1 October 2024 is the 30th anniversary of the World Wide Web Consortium, where HUN-REN SZTAKI has been a member for over 25 years. W3C dedicated a special section to W3C@30 at the annual TPAC (Technical Plenary and Advisory Committee) conference held in Anaheim, CA, USA. The Consortium celebrated three decades of W3C and of advances in the Web, demonstrated the incredible impact of W3C standards on the world, imagined the possibilities for the next 30 years of the Web, and enjoyed an authentic evening of talks and a gala.

Message from Seth Dobbs, President and CEO of the World Wide Web Consortium: ‘The Web is now central to the daily lives of billions, and the Web Consortium has played an important role in it for 30 years. At W3C@30 we offer our thanks to all who have contributed to the Web and W3C over the past decades to empower an equitable, informed, and interconnected society. As we celebrate what has been achieved and what we envision for the future we know that through our work together, today is better than yesterday. I’m confident that together, tomorrow will be better than today.’

HUN-REN SZTAKI has been a member of the World Wide Web Consortium since 1995. W3C Hungarian Office, the first office in Central-Eastern Europe opened in 2002 and has been hosted all along by HUN-REN SZTAKI Department of Distributed Systems (DSD).
