How do I join a group?

If you have a SIM kit, you can join other groups. However, if the billing dates are different, you might give up some of the duration you buy. Whether you must give up any duration depends on the anniversary date of the group you join.

If you join a group as a SIM kit user, the rest of your Google Fi bill credits transition to credits that apply to your monthly statement.

This transition is from months to dollars.

Understand fee changes when you add a member

When you buy a SIM kit that isn’t a starter kit:

  • You get a number of months of Google Fi service on a Google Fi plan.
  • Through the months the SIM kit covers, we apply the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of the kit as a credit to your monthly Google Fi bill.

When you buy a SIM kit and add a member:

  • The monthly rate per group member goes down, like it does with any other group plan.
  • We split your Google Fi bill credits across the group’s members.
  • We bill you for the amount that the Google Fi bill credit doesn’t cover.

Switch plans

If you switch plans, we apply your credits for the rest of your plan’s months to your monthly bill until it’s used up.

Pause your Google Fi account

You can pause at any time and your kit resumes when you unpause. When you unpause your service, we may bill you for more than one calendar month in a cycle and charge your card for the extra days. You still get the same number of months from your SIM kit.

Learn about eSIM

An eSIM has many benefits, like:

  • Quick set up without the need to place a SIM card into the tray.
  • You can’t lose your eSIM.
  • You can reduce SIM card waste.
  • You can easily switch between your Google Fi eSIM and your carrier’s SIM card.

If you choose to leave Google Fi, cancel your Google Fi service before the end of the term.
