Од Средњи Енглески -ede, -eden, од Стари Енглески -ode, -odon (class 2 weak past ending), from Пра-Германски *-ōd-, *-ōdēdun. Cognate with Saterland Frisian -ede (-ed, first person singular past indicative ending), Шведски -ade (-ed), Icelandic -aði (-ed).
