From Средњи Енглески four, from Стари Енглески fēower, from Пра-Западно Германски *feuwar, from Пра-Германски *fedwōr, from previous pre-Grimm *petwṓr, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷetwṓr, the neuter form of *kʷetwóres. Дублети of cuatro and quatre.
