The church grows (2:40-47) Peter’s sermon didn’t end with baptism. Many other words used. Be saved, or save yourselves. About 3,000 were baptized that day. Continued in doctrine (teaching), fellowship (interaction with others), breaking of bread (meals) and prayers. Magnitude of it all created fear/respect.
4
The church grows (2:40-47) Unity from diversity. All things in common. Willing to sell what they had to provide for others. Continued daily. Praised God. The Lord added the saved daily.

Chapter 3 Overview Peter and John encounter a lame man at the temple and heal him (1-10). Peter preaches to the gathered crowd and calls on them to repent and be converted (11- 26).
6
A lame man healed (1-10) Hour of prayer, 9 th hour = 3 p.m. Morning sacrifices, 9 a.m., noon prayers, and evening sacrifices, 3 p.m. Man lame from birth. 4:22 says he was over 40 years old. Gate called “Beautiful.” Could be Gate of Nicanor. 9 doors to the temple, all 45’ high except this one which was 75’ and very richly adorned.
7
A lame man healed (1-10) He was severely disabled, laid at gate daily. Would have been recognizable by any who came to the Temple. Asking alms, or begging. No silver or gold, but he would be healed. In the name of Jesus, by authority of, also Matt. 28:18-20. Peter took him by his hand and raised him up, then his feet/ankles received strength.
8
A lame man healed (1-10) Man was leaping and praising God. Attracted a crowd. Isa. 35:6. “The the lame shall leap like a deer.” Also references to blind, deaf and dumb being healed when God will come to save you. The people were amazed. They knew who it was who had been healed.
9
Peter preaches (11-26) Solomon’s porch or portico. On the east side of the temple. Also mentioned in Acts 5:12, John 10:23. Opportunity to preach about Jesus. Miracle was not from men, but from God. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob. Servant Jesus. Isa 42:1; 52:13; 53:11. You delivered, denied, asked for a murderer, Barabbas, Luke 23:13-25.
10
Peter preaches (11-26) Prince of life, or Author of Eternal Life. Same word used in Heb. 5:9; 12:2 as author. Healing through faith in his name. Not faith of the lame man, but of Peter and John. Ignorance. Jesus/cross, Lk. 23:34, “know not what they do.” Prophecies were fulfilled.
11
Peter preaches (11-26) Repent, be converted (turn), sins blotted out, times of refreshing. Very similar to 2:38, repent, be baptized, remission of sins, gift of Holy Spirit. Turn again, found also in Acts 28:27, “lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,” and Matt. 18:3, “converted as little children.” Warning from Moses, Deut. 18:15, 18-19. Listen to the prophet that the Lord raises up.
12
Peter preaches (11-26) Samuel and other prophets also foretold of Jesus. Sons of the prophets, heirs of the promise/covenant. Jesus was sent first to you. Rom. 1:16
