Dear LAME team.
I have a question about licensing. I read the [LAME license]http://lame.sourceforge.net/license.txt), but I'm not sure how to interpret it in the case commercial closed-source mobile app.
I'd like to use LAME MP3 encoder inside an closed-source commercial app for both Android and iOS.
- I intend to use the original version, but if I ever need to modify any line of code, I will make my modified version publicly available.
- I can use dynamic linking but that won't make a big difference for the users who won't really have the possibility to change it and continue to use the application the same way (especially on iOS).
- Credits in the app is not an issue of course.
What would be the requirements in that case?
Thank you for your attention and help :)
Best,
Tom
I'm not a lawyer, but I think the LGPL would be satisfied if you use dynamic linking (I suggest together with the info on which lame version or svn revision this is based on).
