Alexandra of Denmark (Alexandra Caroline Marie Charlotte Louise Julia; 1 December 1844 – 20 November 1925) was Queen of the United Kingdom and Empress of India from 1901 to 1910 as the wife of King Edward VII. She was the eldest daughter of King Christian IX of Denmark and Queen Louise of Hesse-Kassel. She was also the mother of King George V.[1]
Alexandra was born as Princess Alexandra on December 1, 1844 in Copenhagen, Denmark to Christian IX and Louise of Hesse-Kassel. She was the older sister of Empress Maria Feodorovna. In 1863, she married Prince Edward VII. They had six children together named Albert, George, Louise, Victoria, Maud, and Alexander.
After her marriage she became the princess of Wales. In 1901, she became queen consort after the death of her mother in-law, Queen Victoria. She was queen consort for nine years until her husband's death in 1910. After his death she became queen mother as her son George V became king.
Alexandra died in 1925 from a heart attack. She was 80 years old and was later buried next to her husband.[2]
