The Table of World Heritage Sites is evolving as more sites are added to a growing list.

There are a total of 936 sites. These include properties in 153 states.[1]

As of March 2012, 189 states have ratified the World Heritage Convention.[1]

The worldwide sites have been divided by the World Heritage Committee into five geographic zones: Africa, Arab States, Asia-Pacific, Europe & North America, and Latin America & the Caribbean.

  18. 18.0 18.1 The natural site Monte San Giorgio is shared between Italy and Switzerland.
  19. 19.0 19.1 The cultural site Rhaetian Railway in the Albula / Bernina Landscapes is shared between Italy and Switzerland.
  20. 20.0 20.1 The cultural site Curonian Spit is shared between Lithuania and Russia.
  21. 21.0 21.1 The natural site Uvs Nuur Basin is shared between Mongolia and Russia.
  22. Kathmandu Valley has 8 sites within its boundaries and are listed under one name. The sites are: the Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur, Buddhist Stupas of Swayambhunath and Boudhanath, and Hindu Temples of Pashupatinath and Changu Narayan
  23. In addition, the former natural site Arabian Oryx Sanctuary has been delisted.

  25. The natural site Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians is shared between Slovakia and Ukraine.
  26. 26.0 26.1 The natural site Mosi-oa-Tunya / Victoria Falls is shared between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
