History of basketball

"Bricolage is a mode of adaptation in which things (mostly commoditites) are put to uses for which they were not intended and in ways that dislocate them from their normal or expected content." This quote from page 78 of our textbook, immediately made me think of how basketball's beginning epitomizes this quote. It's quite remarkable how bricolage occurred to create the game of basketball which is a huge industry.

11/21/1950: The Fort Wayne Pistons beat the Minneapolis Lakers, in the lowest-scoring #NBA game ever (19-18), keeping the ball away from George Mikan by holding it without shooting for minutes at a time. This led to the adoption of the shot clock in 1954. #FlashbackFriday
