I can't even begin to tell you how delicious these Greek wraps taste. Greek tzatziki, juicy marinated chicken breasts, fresh tomatoes, and onions all wrapped together in pita flatbreads to create a flavorful explosion in your mouth! You will absolutely be going to LOOOVE them once you try them.
And trust me, this Chicken Gyro Recipe is easier than it looks to put together. When you hear Gyro don't think about the one you buy on the street.
The homemade version of it is as simple as marinating some chicken breasts with a few spices and roast it in the oven. You then cut it in strips and wrap it inside pita flatbreads along with the rest of the ingredients.
This version is also fried-potato-free so I guess I can safely say that it's also a healthier chicken gyro recipe.
What Is Gyros?
Many people wonder what's the difference between Gyros and Souvlaki. Well, Gyros is originally meat cooked on a vertical rotisserie that turns around slowly in front of an electric broiler while Souvlaki is pieces of meat threaded on skewers and cooked mostly on fire.
Gyros is usually served inside Pita flatbreads along with Tzatziki, potato fries, tomato, and onion slices.
And as for me, I finally managed to open my laptop after almost a month of being really busy.
Sorry for not receiving any newsletter or not seeing any new recipes it's almost impossible for me to do so with the amount of work I currently have.
But I will make up for you as soon as we close our restaurant for the season. I hope you all have a lovely summer and go ahead and try my Chicken Gyros Recipe!

- 1 large garlic clove minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill chopped
- 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar

- 1 tomato cut into thin slices
- ½ onion cut into thin slices

For The Chicken Gyros:
- Preheat oven to 250°C / 482°F.
- In a small baking dish, add the chicken breasts, paprika, oregano, garlic, and olive oil. Season with salt and pepper. Massage the chicken for the marinade to spread evenly. Bake for approximately 20 minutes, until the chicken gets a golden brown color. Transfer chicken breasts to a cutting board and cut into thin stripes.
For The Tzatziki:
- In a mixing bowl, add the yogurt, garlic, dill, vinegar, and olive oil. Grate the cucumber with a hand grater (not too thin) and add to the mixture as well. Mix all ingredients until thoroughly combined.
For The Wraps:
- Add a drop of olive oil to a frying pan and heat over high heat. Reduce heat to medium and add the first pita flatbread. Cook for 3-4 minutes flipping it once. Repeat process for the remaining flatbreads.
- To each flatbread add 2-3 slices of tomato, a few slices of onion, a few pieces of chicken and 1-2 tablespoons of tzatziki. Wrap with aluminum foil and serve.

In your recipe for “The Real Greek Tzatziki Recipe” and artical you say that there are only 5 ingredients in real tzatziki, no lemon, no dill. But in this recipe for the chicken gyros, in the tzatziki recipe you add dill. I’m just curious as to why you use it in this recipe?

Hi Lori, it's because I like the combination of fresh dill along with the chicken gyros. So instead of just tossing it into the wrap, I chose to add it in the Tzatziki.
