Later, in the middle of the night, he runs through a forest and is hit by his own car, which still has the keys in it. All his students are the first suspects. When Marquand and the judge visit his wife Muriel to communicate his death, they find her having sex with a stranger. She claims that the couple had been swingers for fifteen years.
