But what he could not have expected: on that very morning, Dr. Kai Hoffmann and Dr. Philipp Brentano heard the shot that was supposed to kill him and took him to the Sachsenklinik. Mahlberg survived, the bullet was stuck in his head. Kai and Philipp operated to remove it, saving not only his life but also his eyesight. Philipp and Kai also wanted to bring Udo Mahlberg back to life on a psychological level. Kai in particular succeeded in building a connection with him. One day before the election, mayoral candidate Antonia Meiler unexpectedly turned up at Sarah Marquardt's clinic: as she was completely devastated after a breakup, she thought she would not be able to pass an important interview.
