He plays for at least six hours daily, and sometimes through the night on weekends. Marc-Oliver is addicted to computer games. His addiction caused him to drop out of high school, barely managing to get a secondary school diploma. The computer was always more important to him. It's an addiction his mother doesn't understand and feels helpless against. "We've tried everything to get him away from the screen. We talked to him about the games, threatened him, and even turned off the computer. Nothing worked." The documentary "Playing, Playing, Playing... When the Computer Makes You Addicted" provides insights into the daily struggle of families against their children's computer game addiction. Like 17-year-old Marc-Oliver, more and more young people are losing themselves in virtual worlds. According to studies, up to ten percent of all players are at risk of addiction. The author team followed Marc-Oliver and his family for over a year - a year in the life of a gaming addict. The documentary shows what makes online role-playing games so exciting and simultaneously dangerous. "Playing, Playing, Playing... When the Computer Makes You Addicted" highlights the effects of computer game addiction, the helplessness of parents, and approaches this new illness from the perspective of neurologists and psychiatrists. Additionally, the authors talk to a young man undergoing therapy for computer game addiction.
