The unsteady relationship between the brothers faces a crack when Kenneth brings a female mannequin home, got from a theatre where a company is rehearsing "Swan Lake". With Gary alone in the house, the mannequin turns into a beautiful girl, Wendy, the ballet's protagonist, and the boy falls in love with her. Wendy's appearance forces Gary to face his situation and the true nature of the relationship with his brother. At this point, Gary must choose between the girl's love, which will bring him freedom and Independence, and his brother, who means safety and protection against the hostile outside world. Gary is tormented, but love prevails and he chooses to run away with Wendy, not before a confrontation with Kenneth, a remarkable sign of their separation.
