While she celebrates her 40th birthday and he his 60th, Tanja Schönenborn and Rafael Fuchsgruber want to run 1000 kilometers across the Namib Desert in Namibia. For 16 days, non-stop. Forward during the day, camping in the middle of the desert at night. A challenge that no one has ever dared to take on before. On the way they get to know themselves and their limits, but above all the wild beauty of African desert landscapes and the warm hospitality of the Namibians. Tanja and Rafael are passionate "desert runners" and have already run a few hundred kilometers through the Australian outback and the Kalahari. They love these special landscapes and this extraordinary extreme sport: "The desert is simply addictive!" - But they are not professional athletes: Tanja works as a financial advisor at the Kreissparkasse in Cologne and fought her obesity for years. Rafael is the owner of a concert agency and started running away from his alcohol addiction a few years ago. But why such a 1000-kilometer goal tour, which puts all their previous adventures in the shade? - We're no longer spring chickens and we want to do it again," says Rafael.
