Later Shingwauk sees a plane go down in the bush and Ranger Keeley (Graydon Gould) thinks it may be the old pilot. It turns out to be a kidnapper holding an Italian diplomat's son named Manuel Marino. He is rescued by the kids with the old pilot's help.
