She learns from a witness that the dog was just thrown from a speeding moving van and that a young man also tried to escape from it, but was kept inside. With the dog, Inspector Dupré goes to the headquarters of the moving company and only finds the injured young man there. As the dog is excitedly greeting him, he admits to owning it. At the same time, the police discover the body of an old man in an opulent villa nearby which has just been broken into.
