Jack flees from Nancy's endearments, and Bess runs away from the elderly Tom. They meet and pursue their flight together until they outdistance the pursuers. Jack persuaded Bess to accept him in place of Tom and they look up a minister. As they are about to enter, Tom and Nancy come down the steps and the interrupter flight is resumed, but Tom explains that he is married to Nancy, and the advertisements are shown to have been of use after all.
