After the two have an argument, Iza Ingham suggests to Sam that he make love to her to make Maude jealous. Maude's brother Tom, who is a midget, tells Maude he will beat up Sam. Maude's other brother Bill arrives from the west, and when Maude tells Sam her brother is coming to thrash him, Sam assumes it's Tom. Instead, Bill beats up Sam, and presents him to Maude, who turns on her brother and tries to beat him up. She turns her affection to Sam, and then Iza appears on the scene.
