One day, Aslarle, the beautiful favorite of the king of the Assyrians, having gone to see the prisoners in the camp where they are detained, falls in love with an immediate and deep love for Judas Maccabeus, whose passionate eloquence and faith religious have conquered it. But Judas only has a heart for his Country and his God, the guilty victims of the courtesan, who takes revenge by having him condemned to death with all his brothers. The Israelites courageously march to execution singing the eternal glory of Jerusalem, and Judas Maccabeus is executed the minute Astarlé, mad with love and regret, rushes to the side of the executioners to save him.
