Munchkin® Card Games
When you're looking at fun card games, you can't go wrong with Munchkin. While the original fantasy inspired set is cool- we like this one with its western theme.
Minotaurus
Minotaurus is a Lego board game. Like all the Lego games, the rules are simple and you're encouraged to mess around and home-brew your own. A lot of fun and easy to understand for younger kids.
Zombie Fluxx
Zombie Fluxx- a great card game with ever-changing Fluxx rules and a ton of zombies floating around.
Scary Tales: Snow White vs. The Giant
A nice battle/card game where you play fairy tale characters in an all-out brawl. Games are short and the rules, while initially baffling, are actually easy.
Home of the Pathfinder and Starfinder RPGs. The Golem’s Got It! | Paizo
Kill Doctor Lucky is one of our newest finds (I know, I know). It's a bit like Clue, but instead of trying to figure out who the murderer is, you're trying to be the one who commits the murder.
Free Games
My brother and I wrote Instant Game and offered it free online. It's a tabletop RPG where you randomly roll the genre, world, technology and game style when you first sit down to play and create your characters on the fly. We're both very proud of it. Free download.
Unexploded Cow
Hands down my favorite Cheap Ass Game. Moves cows out of and in to your field and hope that they blow up from unexploded WWII mines-- then you cash in. Great fun and easy, easy rules.
Grimm
Grimm is a fun, simplified rules RPG based in an Alice-in-Wonderland/Fairy Tale world. Not really for beginning RPG players, but if you have experience running games, can be a lot of fun with your kids.
Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game
Great zombie board game with numerous different scenarios and tons of variations. The four oldest kids love it.
Zombie Cinema
Zombie Cinema is an extremely rules-light narrative RPG. There is no game master- every player takes a turn narrating your combined vision of a zombie movie.
Infernal Contraption is-- hands down-- my favorite card game to play with the kids. Using cards to build your own intricate contraption with tons of components, you have to try to sabotage others' contraptions and be the last machine standing. Great fun.
Are You the Traitor?
Another really quick, really easy game I play with my kids. The more people the better- I suggest AT LEAST five or more. Each hand takes only minutes to play and involves people yelling at each other for being liars.
Series: Lost Worlds (Nova Game Designs)
I've played Lost Worlds since I was 12, and even though it's not in print anymore (I think), I bought a bunch off of ebay to play with my kids. Simple, quick battles between two combatant-- games usually only take five minutes at a time.
Hasbro Toys And Games, Kids Toys, Action Figures, And Board Games - Hasbro
An amazing miniatures-type combat game with rules simple enough that I've been playing it with my kids for many years. They start playing at the age of seven or so.
