The status of theoretical studies dealing with the $\phi$ meson in nuclear matter is reviewed.
Next, preliminary results of
transport simulations of pA reactions measured at the past KEK E325 experiment are discussed. Corresponding
di-lepton spectra are presented and compared with the E325 data.
