Served in the U.S. Army on the Mexican border; served in the U.S. Navy during World War I; lawyer; candidate for Missouri state house of representatives from Buchanan County 2nd District, 1940; U.S. Representative from Missouri, 1943-49, 1953-55 (3rd District 1943-49, 6th District 1953-55); defeated, 1948 (3rd District), 1950 (3rd District), 1954 (6th District). Member, Lions; Odd Fellows; Elks; Moose; Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen; American Legion; Veterans of Foreign Wars. Died September 23, 1965 (age 68 years, 25 days). Interment at Fillmore Cemetery.
      Relatives: Married, August 29, 1927, to Esther Leah Arnold.

Born in East Groveland, Livingston County, N.Y., January 31, 1848. Democrat. Lawyer; candidate for Presidential Elector for Missouri; U.S. Representative from Missouri 4th District, 1889, 1907-21; died in office 1921. German and Swiss ancestry. Died, from a cerebral hemorrhage, in Savannah, Andrew County, Mo., January 21, 1921 (age 72 years, 356 days). Interment at City Cemetery.
      Relatives: Son of Henry Booher and Catharine (Updegraft) Booher; married, January 11, 1877, to Sallie D. Shanks.

      David Rea (1831-1901) — of Savannah, Andrew County, Mo. Born in Indiana, 1831. Democrat. Lawyer; U.S. Representative from Missouri 9th District, 1875-79; defeated, 1878. Died in Savannah, Andrew County, Mo., June 13, 1901 (age about 69 years). Interment at City Cemetery.

      Napoleon Bonaparte Giddings (1816-1897) — also known as Napoleon B. Giddings — of Fayette, Howard County, Mo.; Nebraska City, Otoe County, Neb.; Savannah, Andrew County, Mo. Born near Boonsborough, Clark County, Ky., January 2, 1816. Served in the Texas Army during the Texas War of Independence; lawyer; served in the U.S. Army during the Mexican War; went to California for the 1849 Gold Rush; Delegate to U.S. Congress from Nebraska Territory, 1855; colonel in the Union Army during the Civil War. Died in Savannah, Andrew County, Mo., August 3, 1897 (age 81 years, 213 days). Interment at City Cemetery.

Member of Indiana state house of representatives, 1846; U.S. Representative from Indiana, 1849-51, 1853-55 (10th District 1849-51, 11th District 1853-55); member of Missouri state house of representatives, 1864; delegate to Republican National Convention from Missouri, 1868. Died May 19, 1907 (age 92 years, 51 days). Interment at Savannah Cemetery.
      Presumably named for: Andrew Jackson

    The Political Graveyard

    The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
     
      The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.  
      The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
