Hello friends, the weather is good and I’ve spent most of this week actually writing my upcoming CSS course, so of course, here I am writing more words [sobbing].
It’s been a while since we’ve looked at Very Nice Websites™, so let’s do exactly that. Just a quick warning, there is a lot of motion in the following links.
Aside from the very unique domain name, this site is really clever because it’s a literal endless scroll. Don’t ask me how they did it, but it’s cool. I’m loving the noise texture too.
There’s lots to love about Kanak Naturals’ site. Lots of lovely type, texture and product imagery. The only let down is the scroll-jacking/smoothing. Without that, I think, ironically it would be smoother. The little orange dot that follows your cursor is a nice touch though.
Sonar’s site is full of stunning imagery and a nice compound grid layout which packs in a lot of content. Again, the smoothing lets down the — um — smooth experience, but let’s hope that trend dies a death soon. The mixtape functionality is cool!
Finally a site without scroll-jacking/smoothing. I’ve always had a thing for sites with massive type and extremely blue colour palettes. It was a brave thing to try and get a vertical grid and grid background pattern working together. Fair play.
P.S this is cool.
