Users should know which gadgets are active for anons and for other users who never touched their "preferences".
Also, users should know what will be the result of pressing "Restore default settings".
It is possible to know this by reading Mediawiki:gadgets-definition, but this is not good enough.

My comment was for anyone who intends on doing development work on this enhancement. Basically this is not a priority for the design group, so we will not be devoting time to this issue, however if a community member would like to devote time to this enhancement, the Design group will provide critique/review support prior to integration of the code.
Related/possible duplicate, I think it should be indicated for ALL preferences: T70689: User Preference's default options/values should be automatically marked in the special page itself
