MP Al-Saud reiterates Jordan's firm support to Palestinian people

Amman, Jan. 26 (Petra) - Head of the Lower House Palestine Committee, MP Suleiman Al-Saud, on Sunday said Jordan's positions towards the Arab nation's issues, primarily the Palestinian cause, are "historic, unwavering and solid".

During a committee meeting held in the presence of the Director General of the Department of Palestinian Affairs (DPA) Rafiq Khirfan, the lawmaker affirmed Jordan, since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza Strip, had a "clear" official and popular position, aimed to ending the Israeli atrocities, achieving a permanent truce, and restoring peace to the Middle East.

Al-Saud stressed that Jordan is a "deep-rooted and solid" state with its united people under the Hashemite leadership.

On another related front, he noted the importance of the Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites, calling for sustaining operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to provide assistance to refugees.

Meanwhile, Khirfan and heads of the Kingdom's camp services committees highly valued the "remarkable" efforts made by His Majesty and Jordanian diplomacy since beginning of the aggression on Gaza, referring to the King's firm positions and continuous support for the Palestinian people.

Khirfan also stated His Majesty continues to defend the right of the Palestinians to establish their legitimate state in every international forum and talks with world leaders.

The region, he noted, will not enjoy stability and security unless a just solution to the Palestinian issue is achieved by establishing an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Khirfan also appreciated the Royal initiatives to the camps that benefited all sectors and played a major role in improving their living conditions.
