Abstract

A removable inner covering (10) for a helmet is described, which is shaped to be removably inserted into a helmet (20) in contact with its inner surface, said covering (10) comprising a shell (11) shaped so as to be in contact with the head of a user wearing said helmet (20) comprising the covering (10), a front protection sector (12) shaped so as to be in contact with the forehead of a user wearing the helmet (20) comprising the covering (10), a nuchal protection sector (14) shaped so as to be in contact with the nape of a user wearing the helmet (20) comprising the covering (10); a helmet comprising the covering (10) and a kit comprising a plurality of the coverings (10) are also described.

Description

REMOVABLE INTERNAL COVERING FOR HELMET , HELMET INCLUDING THIS COVERING AND KIT INCLUDING A PLURALITY OF SUCH COVERINGS

The present invention relates to a removable inner covering for a helmet , to a helmet comprising such covering, in particular a protective helmet , and to a kit comprising a plurality of such coverings .

More speci fically, the invention refers to a removable inner covering for a protective helmet , for example for motorcycling or for sports such as skis , to a helmet comprising this covering and to a kit comprising a plurality of such coverings .

Protective helmets are known, and consist of an external shell made of thermoplastic or composite materials and an internal layer made of expanded material , generally expanded polystyrene , and lined with a soft comfort layer made with a combination of so ft expanded polymeric sponge and a fabric, usually made of synthetic fibers , which constitutes the part of the helmet in contact with a user's head when the helmet is worn.

The internal layer of foam material, in addition to absorbing shocks and impact forces generated in the event of an accident, performs the function of keeping the helmet worn stably on the user ' s head .

The soft layer has the function of making the helmet comfortable to wear, preventing the user's head from being in direct contact with the internal foam layer.

These known helmets have problems of hygiene of the fabric in contact with the user's head, mainly caused by sweat.

Another problem of known helmets is represented by the fact that, due to the variability of the shape and size of the head of the various users, it is not always possible to guarantee that the helmet is worn in a stable and comfortable way by a user, also with the production of helmets of different sizes to adapt to different sizes .

These problems are aggravated when the same helmet is worn by different users, such as in the case of rental helmets.

Object of the present invention is realizing a removable inner covering for a helmet , a helmet comprising this covering and a kit comprising a plurality of such coverings , which solve the above problems .

The aforesaid and other obj ects and advantages of the invention, as will become apparent from the following description, are achieved with a removable inner covering for a helmet , a helmet comprising such covering and a kit comprising a plurality of said coverings , also in di f ferent thicknesses , such as those described in the independent claims . Preferred embodiments and nontrivial variants of the present invention are the subj ect matter of the dependent claims .

It is understood that the attached claims form an integral part of the present description .

It will be immediately obvious that innumerable variations and modi fications ( for example relating to shape , dimensions , arrangements and parts with equivalent functionality) can be made to what is described, without departing from the scope of the invention as appears from the attached claims .

The present invention will be better described by a preferred embodiment thereof , provided by way of non-limiting example , with reference to the attached drawings , in which :

Figures 1A and IB respectively show a perspective view of a removable inner covering for a helmet and a helmet comprising this covering according to the invention; and

- Figure 2 shows a perspective view from below of a removable inner covering for a helmet according to the invention .

Referring to the Figures , a preferred embodiment of the removable inner covering 10 for helmet of the invention is illustrated and described, shaped to be inserted in a removable way in a helmet 20 in contact with its internal surface , said covering 10 comprising :

- a cap 11 shaped so as to be in contact with the head of a user wearing said helmet 20 comprising said covering 10 ;

- a front protection sector 12 shaped so as to be in contact with the forehead of a user wearing said helmet 20 comprising said covering 10 ;

- a nuchal protection sector 14 shaped so as to be in contact with the nape of a user wearing said helmet 20 comprising said covering 10 .

Preferably, said frontal protection sector 12 and nuchal protection sector 14 each comprise an end 16 which can be inserted between an external shell and an internal layer of the helmet 20 , to fix the removable covering 10 ins ide the helmet 20 ; more preferably, said insertable end 16 is made of rigid material , for example plastic material , to facilitate its insertion between the outer shell and the inner layer of the helmet 20 , improving the fastening of the removable covering 10 inside the helmet 20 .

Preferably, said removable internal helmet covering 10 also comprises at least one protective flap of a strap 15 shaped so as to be in contact with a closure strap of the helmet 20 comprising said covering 10 .

Preferably, the removable inner covering 10 for a helmet according to the invention comprises a layer of fabric, facing the head of the user wearing the helmet 20 comprising said covering 10 , coupled, for example sewn or glued, with a layer of soft material , for example , soft expanded polymeric or polyurethane foam (MTP ) , a synthetic sponge in polyurethane or the like , with the function of allowing the helmet to be worn in a stable and comfortable way by a user, al lowing to reali ze coverings 10 of different thicknesses, so to adapt the helmet 20 to the anatomical characteristics of the head of each user, thus creating an internal circumference of the helmet 20 corresponding to the size of the user's head.

Preferably, the removable inner covering 10 for a helmet according to the invention also comprises fastening means to the inner surface of the helmet 20, for example Velcro®-type hook and loop fasteners, press studs or the like.

The removable inner covering 10 for a helmet according to the invention can be included in a kit comprising a helmet 20; preferably, the kit comprises a plurality of coverings 10, with or without helmet 20, which can have the same thickness, with the function of providing a disposable covering to ensure the hygiene of a user's helmet 20, or they can have different thicknesses and/o sizes to make the helmet wearable by users with different head sizes, when the same helmet is worn by numerous users, as in the case of rental helmets; preferably, in the case of fullface helmets, the kit can further comprise a protective covering of the chin guard made in a similar way to the frontal protection 12 sector and the nuchal sector 14 , comprising at least one end 16 which can be inserted between an external shell and an internal layer of the helmet 20 , preferably of the chin guard, to fix it inside the helmet 20 .

In use , the removable inner covering 10 for a helmet according to the present invention is inserted inside a helmet 20 , with the ends 16 of the frontal protection sector 12 and/or of the neck protection sector 14 , for example made of rigid material , inserted between the outer shell and the inner layer of the helmet 20 , to fix the removable covering 10 inside the helmet 20 ; in case of use of a kit , one of the coverings 10 of the kit is used after which, to ensure hygiene and/or to adapt the helmet to the di f ferent si zes of the users , said covering is replaced with another covering 10 of the kit ; in case of use of the helmet 20 by dif ferent users , with di f ferent si zes , the covering 10 of the kit having di f ferent thicknesses is chosen from among the coverings 10 of a suitable thickness so as to adapt the helmet 20 to the anatomical characteristics of the head of each user .

Advantageously, the removable inner covering 10 , the helmet 20 comprising this covering 10 and the kit comprising at least one of such coverings

10 of the invention allow maintaining good hygienic conditions of the internal surface of the helmet which is in contact with the user ' s head, allowing moreover to wear the helmet in a stable and comfortable way by a user, allowing to adapt the same helmet to the head si ze of di f ferent users .

Claims

1. Removable inner covering (10) for a helmet shaped to be removably inserted in a helmet (20) in contact with its inner surface, said covering (10) comprising :

- a cap (11) shaped so as to be in contact with the head of a user wearing said helmet (20) comprising said covering (10) ;

- a front protection sector (12) shaped so as to be in contact with the forehead of a user wearing said helmet (20) comprising said covering (10) ;

- a nuchal protection sector (14) shaped so as to be in contact with the nape of a user wearing said helmet (20) comprising said covering (10) ; characterized in that said removable internal helmet covering (10) further comprises at least one protective flap of a strap (15) shaped so as to be in contact with a helmet closure strap (20) in which said covering (10) is inserted.

Removable inner covering (10) for helmet according to claim 1, characterized in that said front protection sector (12) and said neck protection sector (14) each comprise an end (16) which can be inserted between an outer shell and an inner layer of the helmet (20) , to attach the removable covering (10) to the inside of the helmet (20) .

3. Removable inner covering (10) for helmet according to claim 2, characterized in that said insertable end (16) is made of rigid material for insertion between the outer shell and the inner layer of the helmet (20) , improving the fastening of the removable covering (10) inside the helmet (20) .

Removable inner covering (10) for a helmet according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it comprises a fabric layer facing the head of the user wearing the helmet (20) in which said covering (10) is inserted, coupled with a layer of soft material, with the function of allowing the helmet to be worn in a stable and comfortable way by a user, allowing to create coverings (10) of different thicknesses, in order to adapt the helmet (20) to the anatomical characteristics of a user's head.

5. Removable inner covering (10) for a helmet according to claim 4, characterized in that the layer of soft material is made of soft expanded polymeric or polyurethane foam (MTP) or synthetic polyurethane sponge.

6. Removable inner covering (10) for a helmet according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it further comprises means for fixing to the inner surface of the helmet (20) .

7. Helmet (20) comprising a removable inner covering (10) according to any one of the preceding claims .

Kit comprising a plurality of coverings (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the coverings (10) have the same thickness or characterized in that the coverings (10) have different thicknesses and/or dimensions and/or characterized in that it further comprises a protective covering of the chin guard made in a manner similar to the front and nuchal protection sectors (12, 14) .

9. Kit comprising a helmet (20) and a removable inner covering (10) for a helmet according to any one of claims 1 to 6, or comprising a helmet (20) and one of the kits according to claim 8.
