Abstract
A chair with a cavity for resting the sitter's head and neck in the backrest (well), extending from the vertebra prominens to the top of the neck which fits the head and neck of the user. This cavity is attached to the upper backrest in a groove, which allows vertical adjustment, so that the head and neck of users of different heights can be supported and functioning like a movable pillow in the upper backrest.
Description
CHAIR WITH A HEAD AND NECK REST
Field of the Invention
The invention refers to the field of chair design, namely a chair with a head and neck rest.
Background of the invention
Many chairs have currently been designed with a back rest, but without a head and neck rest to provide support, causing head and neck fatigue for the user.
Some chairs have been designed with a section upfolded in the right or left side which is used as a head rest, enabling support only for the head, but not the neck. This is likely to easily cause fatigue, especially when sitting for long periods.
To support the neck while sitting, one has to use a neck pillow. However, using a pillow is inconvenient, especially when sitting in seats on a train, car, or an air plane because the user must carry the pillow with them.
Summary of the invention
This invention provides a structure at the top of the backrest of a chair, to support the head and neck and avoid tiredness, especially when sitting for long periods.
Particularly, this structure at the top of the back of the chair is designed as a cavity with a shape that fits the head and neck. As a result, a person sitting in the chair can place their head and neck in this cavity, without a big gap between the nape and neck of the user and the backrest of the chair. The neck muscles supporting the weight of the neck and head, will not become stretched, thereby avoiding fatigue in the head, the neck and the whole body.
According to the present invention, this structure can be designed as a component allowing the head and neck rest to be attached into the backrest, such that it can be adjusted vertically along the groove at the upper section of the backrest which will allow the head and neck of the user with different heights to be supported.

Detailed Description of the Invention
The chair according to the present invention comprises a cavity 1 in the backrest beginning at the vertebra prommens and extending to the top of the neck (Figures 1, and 2). The head and neck of the user will fit into this cavity, with little or no gap between the back of the neck and the chair.
The cavity consists of two support sections, one for the head and other for the neck, which are connected in the design.
The neck support section is designed with a curved gutter 2, (Figures 1 and 2), extending longitudinally along the cervical spine from first vertebral (the atlas-Cl) to the last vertebra of the cervical spine (the vertebra prominens-C7). This cavity is shaped like a half-round gutter 3 (Figures 2 and 3) to support the nape with a width sufficient to fit the neck of users of different sizes.
The head support section is designed with the cavity based on the shape of the nape, with a widening upper gutter 4, (Figures 1 , 2, and 4) to support the upper part of the neck, starting from the end of the vertebra prominens to the occiput (5), or extending continually.
Furthermore, the cavity supporting the head and neck is integrated into the design of the chair 1 (Figure 3). It is attached to the upper part of the backrest in the gutter 2, (Figure 3), and can be moved vertically, so that it can fit the neck
and head of users of different heights. It operates in the same way as a separated portable pillow mounted on the upper part of the backrest, when needed, optionally, the user can remove the pillow completely, using it independently of the chair.
Examples of the Invention
A chair designed according to this invention can be used at home or in the office. By adjusting the recline positions in the backrest, the chair can also be used as a bed with the head and neck rest as a pillow.
A chair designed according to the present invention will include a head and neck rest, which can be made of any material including fabric, wood, plastic, metal, or hard net.
A chair designed according to the present invention may- be a bench, with more than one head and neck rest attached to the backrest of the bench.
A chair designed according to this invention could be used for vehicles, especially long-distance ones, such as buses, ships, planes, and as well as a bed with the head and neck rest used as a pillow.
Additionally, the pillow has tire cavity supporting the head and neck and is integrated into the design of the chair that can be mounted and removed from the chair at the upper part of the backrest in the gutter. It operates in the same way as a separated portable pillow, when needed, optionally, the user can remove the pillow completely, using it independently of the chair.
Effect of the invention
A chair designed in accordance with the present invention will allow the user to relax comfortably, and avoid fatigue in the head and neck, which may lead to fatigue in the whole body, because the head and neck are the most vulnerable parts when a person is in a sitting posture.
In the upright position, this chair can also allow to sit more comfortably, as in a (backward) reclining position. With a full tilt, it can become a bed
without the need of a pillow.
Claims
1. A chair characterized by a built-in cavity in the backrest, for supporting the sitter’s head and neck, extending from the vertebra prominens to the top of the neck which fits the head and neck of the user, with little or no gap between the nape and the backrest. The cavity has two parts, a head support and neck support, in which both parts are connected. Neck support is provided by a curved gutter extending longitudinally along the cervical spine from the first vertebra to the last vertebra of the cervical spine, shaped like a , half-round gutter for supporting the nape, with a width sufficient to fit the neck, and head support is provided by a cavity shaped like a gutter widening from the end of the atlas to the occiput for supporting the nape.
2. A chair according to claim 1, wherein the cavity supporting the head and neck is a part of the chair, connected to the upper backrest in a groove, which allows vertical adjustment, such that the head and neck of the users of different heights can be supported like a movable pillow in the upper backrest.
3. The portable pillow has the cavity supporting the head and neck according to claim 2, characterized in that when needed, optionally, the user can remove the pillow completely, using it independently of the chair.
