Hereinafter, the connector 1 according to the embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
The connector 1 shown in FIG. 1 is for connecting the flat cable 10 to a circuit on a substrate. The connector 1 includes a housing 2 having an opening 3 into which a flat cable 10 is inserted. The frontage 3 extends horizontally at a predetermined height from one end to the other end in the width direction of the housing 2. As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a support portion 21 extends from the lower edge portion of the frontage opening 3 to the front edge portion of the housing 2.
An insertion port for the terminal 4 is formed on the surface opposite to the surface where the opening 3 of the housing 2 is opened. The terminal 4 includes a pair of upper and lower flexible pieces and is mounted in the housing 2 from the insertion port. The terminal 4 is connected to a circuit formed in the flat cable 10 by sandwiching the flat cable 10 between upper and lower flexible pieces.
Tabs 5 are attached to both side surfaces of the housing 2 in the width direction. The tab 5 is for fixing the housing 2 to the substrate.
An opening 6 communicating with the frontage 3 is formed on the upper surface of the housing 2. The openings 6 are formed at both ends in the width direction of the housing 2 and have a square opening shape. The opening 6 communicates with both ends of the frontage 3 in the width direction. A rib-shaped protective cover 7 is formed around the opening 6. The protective cover 7 is formed along the edge of the opening 6 excluding the edge of the opening 6 located on the inlet side of the frontage 3. As shown in FIG. 2, a predetermined interval is provided between the periphery of the opening 6 and the position where the protective cover 7 is formed.
As shown in FIG. 2, a locking portion 8 is formed on the surface of the opening 6 facing the front edge 3 of the peripheral portion. The locking portion 8 is formed integrally with the housing 2 and has flexibility. The locking portion 8 extends linearly obliquely from the entrance side of the frontage 3 toward the back side (the insertion direction of the flat cable 10). The locking portion 8 is pressed by the tip of the flat cable 10 inserted into the frontage 3 and is bent along the insertion direction of the flat cable 10 as compared to the peripheral wall portion of the frontage 3 on the opening 6 side of the housing 2. Thinly formed. The front end of the locking portion 8 extends in parallel with the insertion direction of the flat cable 10 from the entrance side of the frontage 3 toward the back side (in the insertion direction of the flat cable 10). The length of the distal end portion of the locking portion 8 is slightly shorter than the length of the locking hole 11 provided in the flat cable 10 in the insertion direction of the flat cable 10.
A locking release lever 9 is formed integrally with the locking portion 8. The lock release lever 9 is operated along the insertion direction of the flat cable 10 to bend the lock portion 8 in the operation direction. The lock release lever 9 extends linearly from the tip of the lock portion 8 to the entrance of the opening 6. The locking release lever 9 has a thickness in the insertion direction of the flat cable 10 so that the linear state is maintained even when the locking portion 8 is bent when the locking release lever 9 is operated. It is formed slightly thicker than 8. The distal end of the unlocking lever 9 extends to the outside of the opening 6 to the same height as the upper surface of the protective cover 7 so that an operator can pick and operate the opening from the opening 6.
Next, a method for inserting the flat cable 10 into the connector 1 will be described.
First, as shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 4A, the distal end portion of the flat cable 10 is disposed on the support portion 21 of the housing 2. In the connector 1, the locking portion 8 extends to the lower end of the frontage 3, and the locking release lever 9 extends upward into the opening 6. As shown by an arrow in FIG. 4B, when the flat cable 10 is pushed out to the connector 1 side, the tip of the flat cable 10 enters the front opening 3 and comes into contact with the locking portion 8.
The locking portion 8 bends to the back side of the frontage 3 by the tip of the flat cable 10. Along with this, the latch release lever 9 swings, and the tip is moved in the opening 6 in the direction opposite to the insertion direction of the flat cable 10. As shown in FIG. 4C, when the locking hole 11 of the flat cable 10 moves to a position below the locking portion 8, the locking portion 8 is released from bending and allows the tip to enter the locking hole 11.
Thereby, the movement of the front end 3 of the flat cable 10 to the entrance side is restricted by the locking portion 8. The flat cable 10 is sandwiched between flexible pieces of the terminals 4 protruding into the frontage 3, and the circuit of the flat cable 10 is connected to the terminals 4.
Next, a method for detaching the flat cable 10 from the connector 1 will be described.
First, from the state shown in FIG. 5A, the tip of the locking release lever 9 is moved in the insertion direction (locking release direction) of the flat cable 10 as shown by the arrow in FIG. 5B, and the locking release lever 9 is swung. Let Along with this, the locking portion 8 swings the tip side to the back side of the frontage 3 and moves the tip above the locking hole 11 of the flat cable 10.
This enables the flat cable 10 to move to the entrance side of the frontage 3. In this state, when the flat cable 10 is pulled out to the entrance side of the frontage 3 as shown by an arrow in FIG. 5B, the flat cable 10 moves in the frontage 3 without being restricted by the locking portion 8, and FIG. As shown, the connector 1 is detached.
According to this embodiment, the locking portion 8 that locks in the locking hole 11 of the flat cable 10 and the locking release lever 9 that releases the locking by the locking portion 8 are integrally formed in the housing 2. Therefore, the number of parts of the connector 1 can be reduced.
In the above embodiment, since the locking holes 11 are formed at both ends in the width direction of the flat cable 10, the locking portions 8 and the locking release lever 9 are formed at both ends in the width direction of the frontage 3. Explained the case. However, the number and position of the locking portion 8 and the locking release lever 9 provided in the housing 2 are arbitrary, and can be determined according to the number and position of the locking hole 11.
In the above embodiment, the case where the lock release lever 9 extends from the end of the lock portion 8 has been described. However, the lock release lever 9 may be formed integrally with the lock portion 8 and bend together with the lock portion 8, and is not limited to the configuration in the above embodiment. Moreover, although the said embodiment demonstrated the case where the protective cover 7 was formed around the opening 6, the protective cover 7 does not necessarily need to be formed.
