Abstract

The invention relates to methods for modifying hydrophobic surfaces, in particular for modifying surfaces of a highly-oriented pyrolytic graphite and can be used in a scanning probe microscopy, immuno-enzymatic assay, for producing biochips and for providing the hydrophobic surfaces with other surface properties. The inventive method for modifying a hydrophobic surface consists in applying a modifying monolayer of complex molecules to a surface, wherein said molecules comprise a functional group, a hydrogen bond forming area and a hydrophobic area. In particular, said molecules can have the following composition: [Gly4-NHCH2]2C10H20.
