- the ceramic material from which the work rolls are made guarantees that there is no appreciable heat transfer from the heated rolling stock to the rolling stand and the rolling stock is thereby cooled. Accordingly, according to the invention, heating of the work rolls can be dispensed with. It is sufficient to ensure a sufficiently low heat transfer that a layer made of the ceramic material is provided at least on the roller circumference.
