Abstract

Efficient transmission of a data-system traffic is achieved and the transmission band of the data-system traffic is expanded, by efficiently using network resources. In a network, communication devices are interconnected, two paths are set up between a communication device that transmits data and another one that receives the data, and working channels and auxiliary channels are provided for one-to-one protection communication for each path. According to the importance determined depending on the type of information to be communicated, the working channels are used in a normal mode in the case of a traffic of information of the type of relatively high importance and the auxiliary channel for the other channels are used if a failure is detected during the normal mode communication so as to perform one-to-one protection communication; and channels other than the channels selected as the working channels for the signals of the information of the type of relatively high importance are used for both paths in the case of a traffic of the type of relatively low importance in the normal mode so as to communication data.
