Abstract

The invention relates to an internal combustion engine (1), in particular for a motor vehicle, comprising several cylinders (3), a catalytic converter (12) and an electronic control device (18). The internal combustion engine (1) can be operated in overrun mode by the electronic control device (18). During overrun, fuel can be injected into at least one of the cylinders (3) by means of the electronic control device (18).
