Be it known that I, HAMPTON K. SIMITH,

\ a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Union, in the county of Union and State of South Carolina, haveimade certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-I-Iangers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention is an improvement in clothes hangers, and has for an object among others, to provide a simple construction of coat hanger which can be us'ed'for hanging up suits, jackets, etc., and which will dispense with the ordinary hooks in connection with the body or main bar of the hanger; and the invention consists. in certain-novel constructions, and combinations of parts as will be hereinafter described andclaimed. In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a hanger embodying my invention as in use. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of a portion of the supporting section for. the reception of the hanger. In practice, it W1 ilbe found that the ordinary clothes han ers having a bar and hooks for suspending t e same, are objectionable for the reason that the hooks will catch in the garment as theyare'gathered from the table or show case top to be replaced on the rack, .and the arments are frequently seriously damaged vention I dispense with the hooks and provide the hanger bar A, which may he of any suitable form or design, with a suspension rod B, having instead of the usual hook, a knob C at its upper end for connection with the supporting section D, the latter being connected with the rack, preferably in the manner presently described. The rack may be provided'with a rod E, and t e supporting section D, has a clamp D embracing the rod and secured thereto by screw bolts as best shown in Fig. 4 ofthe drawings. The knob O is preferably a spherical knob, and it engages with suitable seats in the supporting section D, as more fully described hereinafter.
