Description

awarenes REBECCA HARBOUR, OF CHARLIE, TEXAS.
WARP-BEAM FOR LOOMS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented oce. o, 1908.
l Application filed August 21, 1967. Serial No. 389,514.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I. IiEBEooa' HARBOUR, a citizen of the United-States, residing at Charlie, in the county of Clay and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful arp-Beam for Looms, of which the following" is a specification.
This invention relates to warp beams for use upon carpet looms and its object is to provide spools which are of simple and inexpensive construction and designed to be placed upon the warp beam of the loom it therefore being possible to extend the threads directly from the spool rack to the warp beam.
Another object is to provide means for use in connection with the spool whereby the warp can be unwound directly to the heddles.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists ofcertain novel features of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing, which is a perspective view of a spool, the preferred.
' form of the invention has been shown.
Referring to the drawing by characters of reference, 1 designates a band preferably formed of tin and having its ends lapping and provided with openings 2 designed to register so as to receive suitable securing means such as screws whereby after the band has been placed around the thread beam of the loom the same can be readily fastened in position thereon; Another opening 3' is preferably formed in. the band diametrically opposite the lapping ends thereof and is also designed to receive securing means.
Arms radiate fronrthe edges of theband: and act as retainers to hold threads in position when wrapped around the band. A small loop 5 formed of wire m other su t- ,each spool being designed to hold from ten to thirty threads which canbe run'directlv from the spool rack to the spool. The reel of the loom can thus be dispensed with and aismooth' web insured without danger of tangling or looping. Bvfastening the. cord. (3 to the warp the same can be unwound from the beanrup to the heddlcs.
It is well known that the usual manner of threading a loom is tov extend the warp threads from the spool rack onto a. reel and thence to, the thread beam. By the use of the bobbin such as herein described, how-. ever, the threads can be run directly from the spool rack to the thread beam and the reel thus dispensed with.
. hat is claimed is A spool for the warp beam of a loom con.-
sisting of a band bent into circular form and having lapping ends, said. ends being provided with, registering fastening receiving 'openings, arms integral with the edges of the band and radiating therefrom, a. thread engaging device, and an elongated flexible connection betweei'i said device and the band. In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own. 1' 'have'heicto aliixed my signae ture in the presence of two witnesses.
