6 Claims. (Cl. 150 .5)
Ameri- Mass., a voluntary This invention relates to and has moved from a pocket or the like.
A further object is to provide a container formed of molded plastic material having a plurality of compart- A still further object is to above character which is leak 2,727,547 Patented Dec. 20, 1955 view taken substantially on line in the direction of the arrows;
Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view taken substantially on line 33 of Fig. 2 looking in the direction of the arrows; and
Fig. 4 is a vertical transverse sectional view taken substantially on line 44 of Fig. 2 looking 22 of Fig. 1 looking main body portion 10 having an open mouth portion on one side thereof and a cover 11 which is connected to the main body portion 10 adjacent said mouth portion by a band or strap 12. The main body portion 10, cover 11 and strap 12 are formed as a one-piece unitary relamolded,
preferably should also possess some degree of resistance to acids.
' stitute part of this invention.
The main body portion 10 is preferably formed to a relatively fiat rectangular shape and is provided with a plurality of v ments main body portion 10 are rounded and the side walls are. smooth and unbroken. Thus the device 18 lying outwardly of the flange 17 which overlies the end of the main body portion 10.
the space inwardly of the desired, as shown in Figs. 2 and 4, by a small annular flange 21. This compartment 20 may. in the assembled structure, be aligned The flange 17 is also preferably provided with a bevel 2 on i s o ter Peripheral edge whereby the flange 17. may be more easily inserted in the open end of the main body portion 10 to secure the cover 11 in closed relation therewit One end of the strap 12 is attached to an edge 23 of the fiat portion 15 of the cover 11 and, when positioning the cover 11 in closed relation with the main body P tion 10, the edge 23 is preferably located at the side of the main bo y portion opposite to the side to which he opposed nd of the strap 12. is attached. Thus, the strap 12 will overlie the outer surface of the hat port-ion 15 ot the cover 11 as shown in Figs. 1 and 4 and will provide means which may be gripped to aid in removing th co er 11 from the main body Portion.
While it is desirable that the strap 12 be spaced a suflicient distanoe from the outer surface of the cover 1.1. to permit gripping, its length is controlled so that it will not b spaced from the cover to such an xtent h t i forms an ndesirable protrusion- Since the flange 17 on the cover 11 is adapted to fit very intimately with the main body portion 10, the extreme upper ends of the side walls of the main body porion 1 are each provided with a small inwardly disp bevel 26 which the ends of the cover 11 overlie, as shown at 18, to produce a ledge for receiving a prying instrument or the finger nail of an individual whereby the cover may be more easily removed.
While the container embodying the present has been shown and described as embodying exterior shape and as having compartments therein, it is to be understood that the container may take other shapes if desired. Also it is apparent that if desired instructions or other reading matter may easily be molded into the exterior surfaces of the container without forming undesirable protrusions.
From the foregoing description it will be apparent that an improved container has been provided in accordance with the objects of this invention.
While the novel features of the invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claims, it is to be understood that various omissions, substitutions and changes in the construction and arrangement of parts shown and described may be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention. Therefore it is .to be understood that all matter shown or described is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
