Description
July 14 1942- c. A. PORTER BREAST PAD Filed June 14, 1940 Patented July 14, 1942 BREAST PAD Cecil A. Porter, Los Angeles, Calif.
Application June 14,
2 Claims.
the womans breasts causes same to rest comfortably therein and which at the same time, provides means for forming a pleasingly graduated curves while up-holding the breasts to a proper height in order to attain the ideal and most comfortable and proper bust position.
Due to the fact that womens breasts vary according to sizev which is full, medium and slight, also in consistency such as firm, soft and abby and in shape which may be bowl-shaped, hemispherical, conical or elongated, said satiator or filler, or the so-called cup, must be made in such a manner which will re-ll and re-shape the deformity in order to attain the purpose desired.
Therefore, an object of my invention is to provide said satiator or ller with means, such as vacuum chamber, which will adhere to the breast by means of suction, which will stay in place at all times and which outwardly will have an appearance of the naturally appearing breast, having in addition the necessary pleasantly appearing form and curves.
Another object of my invention -is to provide said satiator or filler with means for attaching same to the brassire or bandeaux, which when in use will hold .said breasts in position and will support same in place.
' Another object of my invention is to provide said satiator or filler out of a very pliable rub-` berized and resilient material which may be easily handled, having a natural appearing coloring, shape and breast nipple, which in use it may be adapted for replacing one or both of the breasts when removed by surgery and which will have and maintain a natural posture, contour and curves when covered by said brassires, bandeaux,'under'supports or other combination and similar Variations used by women in dressing.
Further object of my invention is to provide said satiator or filler out of suitable rubberized material or a suitable resilient composition, which is provided with all the characteristics necessary to supply a natural appearing breast and which 1940, Serial No. 340,525
is arranged for attaching same to a semi-brassire or bandeaux, or which may be vulcanized in place and be made substantially an integral part thereof, so that in use only one garment is employed by the wearer having all the advantages hereinbefore described.
Other and further objects and advantages oi my invention as will hereinafter more fully appear I attain by the construction herein shown in the drawing and described in the specication forming a part of my application.
Reference is had to the accompanying drawing in which the similar reference characters denote the similar parts.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 is the perspective view of the brassire shown supported upon shoulders of the wearer, showing the satiator or ller in place.
Fig. Z'is the vertical cross-sectional view of the brassire showing the position of the satiator' when applied against the breast, and taken on the line 2-2 of the Fig l.
- Fig. 3 is the enlarged cross-sectional view of the satiator showing its construction taken in the similar direction as in Fig. 2.
Fig'. 4 is the fragmentary view of the inner surface of the ller showing the suction rings at the approximate edge or rim of the ller, taken in the direction of'the arrows 4, of the Fig. 3.
sire showing the satiator or filler vulcanized in place and made an integral part of the garment, same being shown in modified form.
Fig. 6 is the vertical cross-sectional view of the brassire, shown in modied form and taken on the line 6--6 of the Fig. 5.
Describing my invention more in detail, in its broader aspects, said invention comprises a satiator or iiller generally designated by numeral 2, which comprises a cup shaped body section d having an outside rim section 6 extending therefrom and terminating withV a ller rim t and which its center I0 at the approximate center of the cup shapedbody 4 is provided with a cham.- ber l2 forming a nipple member It,
The inner surface I6 of the body section 4 is composed of a thin layer of rubber or suitable resilient material, which may be approximately of 3 to 5 thousandths in. thickness and which renders said filler to be soft and readily pliable, so
that it may be placed on or over the breast easily without pressing or touching the tender tissues thereof, allowing the breast nipple I8 to lay comfortable within the chamber I2 without practically touching the inner nipple cup surface 20 i Fig. 5 shows the perspective view of the bras and which when in use, causes the wearer to be mentally and physically conscious free.
In order to hold said body section 4 in piace and over the breast 22 said filler. rim 4 at its inner side 24,-is provided with a plurality of ring members 26 see Figs. 3 and 4, which are slightly protruding over the surface and which form suction cups 2l so that when placed over the skin.
same will cause to form a partial vacuum or suction and by preventing the air from passing therein will hold saidl section 4 in proper place allowing only the necessary air circulation through the spaces l provided between said ring members 26 thus rendering same sanitary.
'I'he outer layer 22 of the cup shaped body section 4 including the nipple member I4 is provided out ol.' suitable resilient material, which may be a soft porous rubber or the like and the coloring oi which may, if so desired, be so arranged, whereby a natural appearing breast it may represent.
Also it may be noted, that said liller 2 herein described may be placed within the cone 34 of the brassire 38 which will hold it in piace when supported by means of the straps I8 over the shoulders of the wearer and in this manner a nearly natural appearing breast may be had, which is properly and uniformly curved irrespective of the position or condition of the breast itself.
In the Figs. and 6 I have shown said cup shaped body 4 of the filler 2 to be an integral part of the brassire garment 40 which may, ifso desired, be curved and shaped to provide the proper and uniform breast posture including its position and which may be held in place by means of the straps 42, having its outside surface coloring so arranged, whereby a naturally appearing breast may be emphasized irrespective of the apparent deformity of the wearer or the lack of natural breast caused by an undevelopment or because of surgical operation.
While I have thus described my invention with great particularity it will be clear that the same may be modified throughout a wide range.
I accordingly do not purpose to be limited t the exact details herein shown on the drawim and described in the specification, but resem the right in practice to make the necessar: changes and modifications therein which ma: come within the scope of the appended claims.
I claim as my invention:
1. In a ller of the class described adapted fo: supporting and up-lifting the breasts of women comprising a center body section, a mld-rim seo tion extending out of said center body section foi covering the front section of the breast, a chamber means disposed at the inner side of said bod: for providing suction means to hold said bod! to said breast, a nipple member disposed at the opposite side of said chamber means for presenting a natural appearing breast, s, filler rirr means extending out of the outer edge of saic' mid-rim section having a plurality of suctior cups disposed at the inner side surface thereoi for attaching by suction said iiller to said breast and for holding same firmly in place and natural position.
2. In a filler of the class described adapted for supporting and simulating breasts of women` comprising a center body section, a mid-rim section extending out of said center body section for covering the front section of the breast, a chamber means disposed at the inner side of said body section for enclosing said breast, a, nipple member disposed at the opposite side of said chamber means for presenting a natural appearing breast, a iiller rim means extending out of said outer edge of'said mid-rim section, a plurality of suction cups disposed at the inner side surface of said filler rim means for attaching by suction said filler rim means to said breast and for holding same firmly in place, and a plurality of air circulating spaces disposed between said suction cups for allowing the air circulation therebetween and into said chamber means of said center body section, substantially as described.
