The invention relates to a drier and more particularly to a hair drying device.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, wherein the same is in the form of a head gear adapted to be worn upon the head of a person and when in place functions for the drying of the hair without liability of burning the scalp or drying the skin upon the face, neck or other portions of the head in the vicinity of the hair and assures a positive and quick drying action in the use of the said device.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, wherein on the application thereof to the head of a wearer the warm or hot air as created within the device when in service will be directed away from the neck and face and will be delivered to the atmosphere, the device being easy and practical for use with any drier of standard kind or now upon the market involving changeable, sanitary paper, cloth or non-conductive material adjmtable to the individual face so that such device in its use is thoroughly sanitary and will avoid injury to a wearer during the drying period.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, which is simple in its construction, thoroughly reliable and efficient in its operation, allowing free movement of the head when eing worn, readily and easily adjustable for wearing and assuring adaptability to various sizes of heads, strong, durable and inexpensive to manufacture.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangementa of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which disclose the preferred embodiment of the invention and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.

Mounted upon the drier A at the open or head receiving end thereof is a visor which comprises a split inherently springy headembracing band III the ends H being in overlapped relation to comfortably embraces the forehead of a person, it encircling the head and when worn is in an embracing position 15 therea-bout. Trained over'the band it) is a channeled ring-like guard l2, preferably made from paper, cloth or other non-conductive heat material and constitutes a gutter concentrically about the said band In, its outer peripheral edge being releasably engaged-with spring clips l3 fastened at intervals equally distanced from each other, on the inner face of an inverted truncated substantially conical shaped visor I4, the diameter of which at the larger end is considerably greater than the diameter of the body of the drier A and is concentric to this body to afford a space therebetween. The visor M has united therewith hanger brackets I 5 which are united with an adjustable clamping strap I6 which encircles the body of the drier A close to the open end thereof. This clamping strap I6 is adjustable through the medium of a fastener I! so that it may be secured in embracing condi tion upon the body of the drier A. The fastener I1 is in the form of a nut-carrying bolt, yet it may be any other type of fastener suitable for functioning as intended thereof. 1 n The open end of thebody of the drier A is formed with an external mouth bead l8 which affords a ledge for the resting of the clamping strap l6 thereagainst when embracing the said body of the drier, so that there is no liability of this clamping strap working off of the body or loose therefrom.

As will appear in Figure 1. of the drawings, in the wearing of the drier A the warm air vas created within this drier passes in the direction of the arrows about the head through the channel as eflected by the ring-like guard l2 thence outwardly between the visor I 4 and the body of the drier A to the atmosphere. Thus it will be seen that the warm or hot air discharged to the atmosphere is deflected from the face or neck of the wearer of the drier and the hot air within the 6 body of the drier A contacting with the hair will expeditiously dry the same, there being no liability of the burning of the scalp or the skin of the face or neck of a wearer.

The band i is self-adjusting to accommoda itself to different sizes of heads of the users of the device and also to hold the drier A in proper working position upon the head of a user.

The guard 12 is readily removable for the substitution of a new guard after the discarded one has been used and in this manner the device is thoroughly sanitary, the guard in the channel formation may be varied at the will of the applicator thereof when placing such guard within the'device, asthe guard is susceptible of having a shallow or deep channel or gutter.

In Figures 3 and 4 of the-drawings there is shown a slight modification of the invention, wherein the clamping strap 19 is split and formed with outturned ear terminals 20 through which is engaged a nut-carrying bolt 2|, thenut 22 thereon being of the winged type so that the strap can be clamped upon the hood of the drier. This band at suitable intervals thereof externally of the same has fitted therewith eyes 23 with which are loosely connected suspension hooks 24, these being engageable in a turned seamed edge 25 of a guard 26 which may be made from paper, cloth or other fibrous material having heat resisting qualities, the edge being provided with button holes 21 for accommodating the hooks 24 at the bill ends 28 thereof so that in this manner the guard is supported, its inner edge being formed with a casement 29 having therein an elastic band 30 for embracing the head of a person yet this band 30 may be otherwise adiustable than through the inherent resiliency thereof. The band 30 functions similarly to the band l0 hereinbefore described.

Held in place by the band 30 as contained within the casement 29 of the guard are ear shields 3|, these covering the ears of the wearer of the ,device to protect the same during the service of the device for the drying of the hair. The shields 3| can be protected by strips 32 which can be discarded after the use of the shields by each person and thusassuring sanitation in the wearing thereof.

33 for engagement by the hooks24 to hold the same in supporting position or suspension for the carrying of the guard.

It isto be clearly understood that the guard both in the preferred and modified forms may be made from fabricated material either paper or cloth and such guard may be mounted upon the drier in any desirable manner other than by the clips a new guard in the device at each time of the f use of the latter. What is claimed is:

1. The combination with a hood-like drier of an adjustable embracing band carried by the drier, an inverted truncated s stantially conical shaped visor concentrically disposed to the drier and having bracket connection with the band, a head embracing band, and a channeled member carriedover the head embracing band and detachably fastened to the visor.

2. The combination with a hood-like drier of an adjustable embracing band carried by the drier, an inverted truncated substantially conical shaped visor concentrically disposed to the drier and having bracket connection with the band, a head embracing band, a channeled member carried over the head embracing band and detachably fastened to the visor and means for detachably attaching the channeled paper member to said visor.

3. The combination with a hood-like drier of an adjustable embracing band carried by the drier, an inverted truncated substantially conical shaped visor concentrically disposed to the drier and having bracket connection with the band, a head embracing b nd, a channeled member carried over the ha embracing band and detachably fastened to the visor and means for detachably attaching the channeled paper member to said visor interiorly thereof, the head embracingband being split and of inherently springy nature.

4. The combination with a hood-like drier of an adjustable embracing band carried by the drier, an inverted truncated substantially conical shaped visor concentrically disposed to the drier and having bracket connection with the band, a head embracing band, a channeled member carried over the head embracing band and detachably fastened to the visor and ear shields supplementing the visor.

5. The combination with a hood-drier of an adjustable embracing band carried by the drier, an inverted truncated substantially conical shaped visor concentrically disposed to the drier and having bracket connection with the band, a head embracing band, a channeled member carried over the head embracing band and detachably fastened to the visor, ear shields supplementing thevisor and a removable strip cooperating with the visor and ear shields.
