Description

July 20 1926. 1,593,216
.F. N. LEWIS PUFFY EYE STRAP Filed Jan. 19, 1923 IN VL'N TOR.
ATTORNEY.
Patented July 20, 1926.
UNITED ATENT OFFICE.
FLORENCE N. LEWIS, OF NEW YORK, IN. Y.
PUFFY-EYE STRAP.
Application filed January 19,1923.
Serial No. 613,691.
This invention relates to improvements in somewhat above the lower edge of the bands appliances for facial treatment or massage, and it is the principal object of the invention to provide a bandage or strap for the treatment of puffy eyes in connection with an astringent.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a bandage or strap of this character which can be readily applied to the face and removed therefrom and securely fastened to the head for intimately holding the astringent to the skin to be absorbed thereby and to contract the soft organic tissues around the eyes and remove all pufiiness from under the eyes.
These and other objects of my invention will become more fully known as the description thereof proceeds, and will then be specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of my disclosure:
Figure 1 illustrates a front view of the appliance constructed according to the present invention in position in front of a face.
Figure 2 is a rear view of my device, and
Figure 3 is an edge view of the same.
The device comprises an outwardly curved nose guard 10 preferably made of metal, coated by rubber and adapted to engage the nose as illustrated in Figure 1 to rest upon the same when the device is secured to the head by means of the bands or straps 11 and 12 passed through eyelets 13 and 14 near the outer ends of rubber flaps or bands 15 and 16 and held therein by knots 13 and 14:.
To the inner ends of bands 15 and 16, the depending parallel shanks 17 and 18 of the guard 10 are secured by embedding the same into thematerial of the flaps formed into beads as shown at 19 and 20, in such a manner that the extreme lower ends of shanks 17 and 18 and their rubber coats terminate 15 and 16.
It will be clear that the astringent spread over the skin under the eyes, or a pad of absorbent cotton saturated with such an astringent will be firmly kept in place under the bandage when the same is secured to the head by means of the bands 11 and 12 and supported 011 the nose by the guard 10, which is well padded in order to avoid any injury to the skin of the wearer. Suitable washers separate the eyelets from the material of the bands.
Changes may be made in the general arrangement and in the construction of the minor details of my invention without deviating from the scope and spirit thereof as I have shown in the drawing as one example of the many ways in which my invention may be practically executed only one, i. e. the preferred form of the same.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A puffy eye strap comprising a pair of substantially elongated rubber bands for holding an astringent to the skin, said bands having their upper inner edges cut out to fit to the form of the eye, means associated with the outer ends of said bands for securely holding the strap to the head of a user, beads formed at the inner end edges of the bands constituting sleeves, an outwardly curved, rubber coated nose guard, angularly depending shanks on said guard adapted to engage said sleeves and to be held therein, said shanks ending a short distance above the lower edges of said bands.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature.
FLORENCE N. LEWIS.
