Description
v 1.1. HILEMONI HOSE SUPPORTER.
APPLICATION FILED MAR- 9, I911- Patented Mar. 9, 1920.
' To all whom it may concern Y UNITED srA'rEs PATENT onn on.
JOSEPH J. HILEMON, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
HOSE-SUPPORTER.
'Be it known that I, JosErH J. HILEM N, 'a citizen of'the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented 'certain useful Improvements 1n Hose-Supporters, 'Of'WlllCh the following is I a specification, reference being" had therein to the accompanying drawing. 1 The present ventions known as garment supporters and more particularly relates to a hose supporter.
7 As the primary aim and object this invention contemplatesthe provision of a novel hosesupporter embodying novel engaging means adapted for attachment on aportion of a nether garment and on a portion of the wearer for supporting the hose, thereby obviating the possibility of stopping the circu-' lation of the blood as is the case in thema- I 'jority of hose supporters at present in use,
the device being particularly designed. for
those persons who are unable to conveniently use a hose supporter of the limb encircling type.
ing means, improved flexible means being.
provided for connecting the engaging means to the flexible connecting element, thus pro-' viding a device of this character that is practically flexible throughout and which does not interfere with the action of the wearer, being convenient and practical.
Among the other aims and' objects of the present inventionmay be recited the provision of a device of the charactermentioned with a view to compactness, and in which the number of parts are few, the construction simple, and the cost of production low.
Other objects as well asthe nature, characteristic features and scopeof this invention will be more readily apparent from the following description taken in connecpointed out in the claim forming a thisspecification. I The preferred embodiment of the present invention is clearly illustrated in the accomf panying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a front elevati on ofv the device in an OP'BIatIYQ position.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged front elevation of Specification of Letters Patent.
to indicate corresponding parts.
invention has reference generally to improvements in that class of n- More particularly, the present invention stud engaging loop on the stud.
Similar characters of reference are employed in all ofthe above described views,
Referring now, more particularly, to the accompanying drawings I provide my iniproved elastic nieans'in the present instance consisting of an ela sticstrip 1 each end of which is folded upon itself as indicated by the numeral 2 and stitched'to the main portion as-indic-ated by the numeral 3,:being engaged in a metallic loop 4 preparatory to being stitched; I
WVitha' view toward providing myf improved flexible attaching means for the engaging means I employ chains 5. The inner end link 6 of each chain 18 pivotally engaged in an ear '7 formed on the outer port on of each loop 4t. The cooperative engaging means is now connected to the flexible means and consist.of'relatively smallrectangular plates 8 having the end edges "rounded and having openings in the -:inner ends for pivotally receiving the outer end Patented Mar.9,19 20.
Application filed March 9, 1917. Seriai Nc. 153,647 r i l d links of the chains 5. Studs 10 are formed V on the outer surface adjacent the outer ends of the plates while heads 11 are formed on the outer ends of the studs. Elongated stud and article engaging loops '12 have their inner end surfaces enlarged and curved as indicated by the numeral 18 to facilitate ,the passing of the heads 11 therethrough while the inner surfaces are further inclined or converged toward the outer end as indicated by the numeral 14 so that when applied as indicatedin Figzl the inner surfaces will be straddled about the shanks of the studslO beneath the heads 11 serving to clamp 'a portion of a nether garment and a portion of a hose therein. It will be observed that the stud engaging loops are practically twice as long as the plates 8 so that when the parts are in an extended'po sition they will terminate .in substantial alineinent.
In applying the improved hose supporter 7 one of the plates 8 is inserted beneath the outwardly folded'portion of'the limb of a nether garment and is arranged practically parallel to the surface of the limb of the wearerwhereupon the engaging loop is moved upwardly so'that the'stud carrying the portion of a nethergarment will pass thereof, which in effect is an opening about the stud carrying the portion oi'the hose and is pulled upwardly so that the converging surfaces clamp the hose'to the shank of the stud being prevented from displacement because of the head. In use it is thought to be apparent that because oif'the elastic connecting means and the flexible means as well as the pivotally connectedengaging means on-the flexible means that all the parts are permitted of having free movement and thereby obviate any inconvenience to the wearer. Incidentally it will be apparent that the device is especially adapted for those persons who cannot use the customary form of limb encircling hose supporter on account of the same stopping the circulation of blood in the limbs.
thought that a further detailed description or the invention is unnecessary. Likewise it is believed that the advantages of the invention will be readily apparent.
It will be understood that the foregoing description and accompanying drawings comprehend only thegeneral and preferred embodiment of my invention and that various minor changes in detail of construction, proportion and arrangement of the parts may be made within the scope of the ap- "pended claim and without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention.
Having thus fully described myinvention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent is:
In a device of the character described, an attaching loop, an ear formed integral with the loop and projecting from the lower edge medially thereof, a chain embodying a plurality of links the inner of which is loosely connected to the car, a relatively flat plate having anopening near its inner. end for loose connection with the outer link of the chain, a headed stud formed integral with one'i'ace of the plate near the outer end thereof, and an elongated, relatively fiat,
stud engaging loop stamped from a piece of sheet metal and having a small opening near the inner end for loose connection with the lnner llnk of the chain and also havlng 1ts inner edge near the lnner end enlarged and rounded and its inner side edges ta- From the foregoing description it is pered toward theouter end and arranged in frictional engagement with the stud subsequent to the engagement of the stud with an article of apparel and subsequent to the disposition oi the inner mounted edge of the loop thereabout. p In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
