APPLICATION FILED JULY 2!,1919. 1,332,822.
Patented Mar. 2,1920.
VICTOR EMANUEL FERMIER, OF FORNEY, TEXAS.
TOY.
Application filed July 21, 1919.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VIoToR E. FERMIER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Forney, in the county of Kaufman and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improvement in toys, and has for its object to provide a toy of the motion type, wherein a figure is mounted on a wheeled support and is controlled by the movement of the vehicle to move in imitation of the normal movement of the figure.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a side view of the improved y;
Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view;
Fig. 3 is a front view, with the body of the support in section;
Fig. 4 is a side view of the wheel;
Fig. 5 is a vertical section of the wheel;
Fig. 6 is a perspective view of a portion of the platform.
In the present embodiment of the invention, a suitable support is provided, consisting of a platform 1 to whose under face is secured a pair of check or bearing plates 2 and a tongue 3 is secured between the bearing plates at oneend of the platform, the tongue inclining upward as shown.
These cheek plates are also connected at the front of the platform'by a connecting block L and a wheel 5 is journaled between the cheek plates, between the tongue and the filling block 4. This wheel is connected to the cheek pieces by means of crank pins 67, and each of these pins consists ofa portion 6 which is journaled in the adjacent cheek piece at the axis of the wheel, and a portion 7 ofiset laterally with respect to the portion 6 and having at the end thereof a cross plate 8 which is secured to the adjacent face of the wheel.
A link 9 is pivoted to each crank pin on the portion 7 thereof, and these links sup- Specification of Letters Patent.
Serial No. 312,21
an eccentric movement will be given to the figure. The rear end of the figure, with the support moving forwardly from the position of Fig. 1, will first be moved slightly upward and then downward. The front end will first move downward and then upward,
but the eccentric arrangement of the crank journaled pins will impart an eccentric movement to the figure to simulate the galloping of a rabbit.
I claim:
1. A motion toy comprising a support, a wheel for the support, cranked pins connecting the wheel with the support, each pin comprising a portion axial to the wheel and journaled in the support and a portion eccentric to the wheel and secured thereto, a figure, and links connecting the figure with those portions of the cranked pins adjacent to the wheel.
2. A motion toy comprising a support, a wheel for the support, cranked pins connecting the wheel with the support, each pin comprising a portion axial to the wheel and journaled in the support and a portion eccentric to the wheel and secured thereto,
- a figure, and a connection between the said figure and those portions of the cranked pins adjacent to the wheel for supporting and moving the said figure.
3. A motion toy, comprising a wheeled support, crank pins connecting the wheel with the support, each pin comprising two portions ofiset laterally with respect to each other, one portion being journaled in the support and the other portion being secured eccentric-ally to the wheel, a figure, and connections between the figure and the first named portions for the purpose specified.
